Self testing is worth every penny

Last year I was skint so didn't buy any test strips and bad habits returned! Still lowish carb but not low enough!! Two weeks ago I re-started testing and reading the forum every day. The first few days the daytime results were around 10 (I know ) but the last two days I'm seeing low 7s. Hurray...

    Back for help

I was diagnosed a few years ago and was doing really well. A year ago financial problems ment I couldn't afford strips but I thought hey not a problem!! So I slipped back into bad habits (yes I even stopped coming here) but after a rather unrestrained festive season and various colds and pain...

    Whoops

Just got home from 3 days camping, I planned and prepared but fell right off the wagon! Far too much dry rose led to chips! Gosh they were nice at the time but then there was cake and some strange shot glass full of some incredibly sweet alcohol thing with whipped cream! Home now. Slight...

    Results, good and bad!

Thank you for that link I will certainly have a look at it, and yes I will hit that 42!! I think I will beg for another test, if I explain how much this upset me when I opened the envelope and how I feel like a complete idiot for not realising, you never know the DN might take pity on me...

    Results, good and bad!

Thank you and yes I'll remember for next time! If only I had realised I would have fasted no problem and saved my meds and coffee for after ( the appointment was 10.45am so hardly an issue)

Thank you, I won't say it has been easy but this forum has helped me stay focused and I'm so glad I found it

    Results, good and bad!

Yes I had eaten, not a lot, just a coffee with cream and a piece of cheese to help my medication go down! I won't make that mistake again. As for a plan, I am booked to see the DN next week to discuss my results (they were posted to me) and as she is a great supporter of lchf I may beg her for a...

    Results, good and bad!

Hello, firstly thank you for all you advice (ok not to me specifically but reading everyone's questions and answers has helped me beyond words) diagnosed back in March with a terrifying hba1c of 112! Today's results down to 47! The problem is my cholesterol! Am I correct that having breakfast...

    Morning testing

I get up, use the bathroom, get dressed then go downstairs. I test while the kettle is boiling, I don't fret too much because I still have high numbers first thing, so before breakfast is enough for me, and the times do vary depending on what time I went to bed and what I have to do that day.

    need help

So sorry to read this, I feel your iritation!! I reached menopause about 18months ago, oh the hot flushes and recurring thrush were horrendous. I found over the counter medication (chemist own brand work just as well and are much cheaper) along with application of coconut oil helped and using no...

    Type 2 advice

I totally feel your frustration! I've been doing lc for about 3 months and the figures have come down slowly, I didn't buy a meter straight away but when i started testing my readings were always in double figures, each week or so I would start to see occasional lower numbers, within a couple of...

    Type 2 Stress?

It's 12 weeks since diagnosis, everything has been going well, blood sugars coming down, hba1c reducing nicely, doctor pleased, low carb is working. However today I fasted this morning then before lunch 7.6 (a lidl roll with egg and mayo -had this before with hardly any rise after 2 hours but...

    New HbA1c result!

I think 83 to 61 in three months is fab, 28lbs down is flipping great. If you can do that with stress and a cheat day or 2 then I think you'll do just fine for August. Well done, people like you keep me motivated so thank you x

Feel like I've lost my mind

I notice in your post that you say you are scheduled for a Desmond day and refer to it as training, I don't know what they are like in your area but I found them unsupportive of self testing and low carb. In all honesty I believe you will get more information asking questions here. I'm lucky in...

    My Partner Doesn't Get It!!

Both my GP and Diabetic Nurse encourage the lchf lifestyle and are very pleased with my progress, in fact the nurse said she recommends it to all her patients. Self testing however is a different matter, I was told not to because I could become obsessed or that as a t2 I don't need to but they...

    First Diabetic Nurse appointment

Well that was a surprise! First DN appointment and after the somewhat chilly reception on the Desmond day I admit I was prepared to smile, say thank you then do it my own way anyway! She looked at my results and asked me if I was low carbing, when I said yes she was delighted. Apparently she has...

Post meal BS is lower than Pre meal

Im a t2 and had a similar thing today, before lunch 8 then 2 hours later 7.4, and all I did was sit doing some work on the laptop. It says you're t1 so I guess as long as you feel OK then just keep an eye on it

    And the results are...

I haven't worked out how to tag via my phone but in reply to Rachox Firstly I Googled then found my way here, I decided that as years of low cal and low fat diets had only worked in the short term and realising I had been dependent on carbs and fruits, I decided low carb and healthy fats were...

    Am I worrying over nothing.....

As your post made me think I decided to double check, I phoned my surgery and asked how long to get results, the first lady said 5 days (!) then passed me onto the results line, this lady checked and mine were back (done friday afternoon!) but she did say some results need to be checked by the...

Just had my results back from gp. Diagnosed 9 weeks ago hba1c 112 total cholesterol 5.6 - I was a bit of a mess! Current hba1c 68 total cholesterol 3.2 - liver and kidney results normal but will get the full breakdown next week at my first dn appointment. OK so still a way to go but if I hadn't...
