    Dexcom problems

I suggest fitted the sensors and letting it 'settle' for 24 hours before using it. This gives the insertion site enough time to heal so that it doesn't affect readings. Make sure she's well hydrated. Sleeping on your sensor can give you 'compression hypo's'. Paracetamol/Tylenol will cause the...

Type 1 Serious advice/help needed. I’ve given up.

To summarise; I’ve been diabetes for 13 years and only cared for it for roughly 5. I suffered awful Diabulimia, however I now don’t know what my issue is. I want to care for myself, but I simply cannot push to do so. I have slight maculopathy, digestive issues and peripheral neuropathy...

    Self-treated DKA; Now complications

Apologies this is slightly long! I would really appreciate responses however [emoji177] I’ve been Type One for 12 years, almost 13, and I’ll be the first to admit I am/was one of the most awful diabetics on the planet. Skipping to the true subject, though. I’ve been admitted countless time...

Type 1 daughter is she entitled to any benefits ?

I believe the only benefits we get are free presriptions, though I'm not complaining about that! I've had type one for 11 years, tried to claim some help based on retinopathy (loss of vision in my left eye), neuropathy, depression and not being hypo aware, but unfortunately denied for everything.

Can I get PIP with diabetes

I applied for PIP a short while ago based on diabetes and depression. My hypo-unawareness means I test every hour & can't go anywhere alone. I've also got retinopathy quite badly in my left eye so struggle with my vision out of it. I got declined, though.

My awesome friend (or, why you should tell people you're diabetic)

What a sweet friend! I feel like more people would behave this way if we were honest & open about our diabetes. "I'm a little low and would appreciate your help" would probably be taken as a huge, huge compliment!

Be honest, how -are- you doing?

Good evening everyone! So, after my recent DKA, a doctor told me: "I'm not going to shout at you. Be honest with me" How are you all? Coping? Testing and injecting as you should be? Eating a little too much when low? Let it out, have a vent. i'd love to hear from you all; struggling or...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Thank you! I've set myself goals to reduce my hba1c to 12%, then 10%, and so on. As long as I can tick off at least one of those, i'll be pleased!

Wish my bolus was that low! I'm currently experimenting between 2 for every 3 - 4g, but I take 28 units of Levemir at night, previously 58!

    Is the pump attractive?

I think, personally, the pump looks awesome. I'm on injections but plan to go on the pump. I'll be showing it off for sure! Wearing it in obvious places, it makes you different and unique. There's nothing unattractive about it. You see someone with earphones in, the wire plugging into their...

    Managing at uni?

As long as you keep your head on, you should be okay. You sound pretty chill with your control, and that's a good thing. Don't get too stressed, and if you're out & about (partying and drinking) look after yourself. The above information from phdiabetic is amazing!

I'm currently taking 1 unit for every 3g of carbohydrates. It's nothing to worry about really, we all work differently. If you're concerned though, see your doctor and explain your worries. x

Get your next Libre to Abbott now!

A girl I know has advised that Asda sell the sensors. They take 3 days to arrive and cost £44 all together. Might be worth checking in your local Asda's too!

Injecting, and it appearing not to have worked.

It could definitely be that you're less active, for sure. If i'm at work, I can generally take almost half the units in comparison to if I'm at home relaxing. However, bare in mind the weather & illnesses going round at the moment. Just make sure you aren't coming down with a cold or feeling a...
