    Type 2 Lazy chef

A great standby is Sirataki noodles - no carbs. Read info about them. (I use Miracle Noodles) They are wonderful because you can do so many things with them & they are very filling. They come in linguine, spaghetti, angel hair and rice. They take on the flavor of whatever you add to them. You...

    Low Mood and Diabetes

I agree with juicyj as well. My secret weapon for reminding me to take my meds is Amazon's Alexa. She can be programmed to repeatedly remind you of a specific time to take pills, check glucose, various appointments or any thing else. You can set as many times and dates you need. I also request...

    Condiments / Sauces / Dressings...what can I replace them with ?

You can make aioli by adding a bit of pressed garlic to the mayo. Also other good adds for mayo are curry powder or wasabi paste/powder.

    Extreme chocolate

Yes. It can. I discovered this when I was looking for justification to eat dark chocolate - other than love.;) " A 1-ounce (28-gram) serving contains 3.3 mg of iron, which is 19% of the RDI. This small serving also packs 25% and 16% of the RDIs for copper and magnesium respectively. In...

Best replacement for sugar in tea / coffee ?

I use only monk fruit drops if I want to sweeten something. They are expensive but have no funny taste. Usually I have my coffee with cream only and tea with cream and sometimes monk fruit drops. I Deleting the sugar from either takes only a couple days to get used to.

    Pumpkin seeds

I eat roasted pumpkin seeds frequently as a snack in the evening. For some reason they help to keep my BG in check. Here is an article by a dietitian regarding why pumpkin seeds are good for T2. She says they contain 3g carbs per 1/4 cup, which is a fair amount, especially if you eat them one...

Why can I not get my HBA1C down?

The cream I get here has only 0.4g/T (the carton says <1g/T). I agree, "carb free" may have been an over statement. Seems 100ml would be a lot of cream or milk for coffee or tea. Am I wrong?

Why can I not get my HBA1C down?

Just a suggestion, you should try using double cream instead of any type of milk in your coffee and tea. No carbs and it tastes ever so much better. Also almond milk is something else to consider, it has 1g per serving. Now you have me wanting a nice bowl of warm butter beans - ummm. But alas, I...

    Such a failure

How long has it been since you were diagnosed? And how long since you started a LC diet? Do you eat high fat foods at all? As you know everything impacts your BG - stress, medications, exercise, etc. Don't be too hard on yourself. It is a daily fight that we all share. Just your mention of...

I really don't know whether to eat cakes galore or to go on hunger strike :(

Sorry about your problems. I have seen articles regarding keto & LCHF diets causing lots of problems with gut bacteria. Can't really recommend one but if you Google "Keto diet gut bacteria problems" you will find several articles. Also wanted to mention to you about sweeteners. I have found the...

What is a candida cleanse diet and what does it do? (sounds like a diabetic diet to me) https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/consumer-health/expert-answers/candida-cleanse/faq-20058174 There are several types of candida. All are fungi. Doctors tend to treat this with anti-fungal medication.

    Tabouleh!!!

You can make pudding, there are many recipes on line. Chocolate peanut butter is my favorite. I use monk fruit sweetener, as there is no after taste. Also please note you can also grind chia seeds in a coffee grinder if the texture is not to your liking. it doesn't have any negative effect on them.

I would highly recommend you go to: Forums Diabetes Discussion Newly Diagnosed There is so much information there. It starts you at the beginning rather than in the middle - getting much too much info, much too fast. @daisy1 will send you some basic info.
