    Night time lows

You read my mind! I am looking at which one might be best for me today. I haven't used one for a while but they are a great and accurate back up. If you are happy to recommend one that would be good to know. My RH has been under really good control lately but yesterday was a huge blip!

    Night time lows

Thank you. In addition to the hypo symptoms, the constant red zone readings definitely made me more stressed.

    Night time lows

This info is really interesting. I am using a Freestyle Libre for two weeks for a quick check up on my RH and am regularly falling into the low 3’s during sleep? I have emailed them to ask if it is faulty. First thing this morning I woke up and tested at 3. 15 minutes later I was was 7.1...

    Adrenaline surges

I hope all on this forum are keeping well and safe. I have a question about adrenaline. I am producing a lot at the moment! I am working very hard on the frontline and such is the nature of what is happening that I sense I my body is pumping round a lot of adrenaline. I then crash very badly but...

    RH and covid 19

I am very keen to know if RH is one of the listed conditions of high risk? Pre diabetes is on the high risk list. I am on the frontline working to distribute food in my village. My family are saying I should very careful because I have RH.

    Tests for RH

Hi Sarah T. I was diagnosed with RH 18 months ago and saw both an Endocrinologist, a Gastro Enterologist and a specialist dietitian. I had a 48 hour urine collection test, an endoscopy, CT scan of my stomach and finally a 5 hour glucose tolerance test. The first tests were to rule out a...

WHAT TO DRINK IN A PUB

I get away with gin and soda or extra dry Martini and soda. I can also drink red wine with nibbles but only a small glass.

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia

Just looked up Grenade protein bars. They are low sugar but stacked with polyols which is a replacement sweetener! They are also quite high in carbs. Most bars like these are not helpful to people with RH.

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia

Hi there The list of food is really helpful. Your breakfast would cause me problems due to the bread (carbs) and protein bar (sugar & carbs). I am lucky that I can eat oats so I have porridge for breakfast with yoghurt and a few raspberries. The alternative is an omelette (plus cheese...

    Reactive Hypoglycaemia

Sorry to hear of your symptoms Tara and they sound like RH. During my glucose tolerance test, the 6 hour one, the team wouldn’t let me go below 3.2 and effectively pulled the plug by feeding me and stopping the process. By that time I was cognitively impaired, very pale, cold and shaky and they...

    Recovery from making a mistake

Thank you Lamont D. Its Day 4 and my body is feeling much happier. I also realised on top of it all I had a particularly Adrenalin fuelled work week (which we all have often!) and putting the two together has created a double whammy. Am going to invest in a new monitor so I can keep an eye on...

    Recovery from making a mistake

Really helpful thank you! It certainly feels like coming out of a big hypo as my body is really tired. Feeling great for a long while is wonderful and the reminder of what life used to be like is very useful for motivation!

WHAT TO DRINK IN A PUB

I would love to drink the occasional glass of lager. The last one gave me a full blown hypo but I didn’t eat with it so that was entirely my fault!

WHAT TO DRINK IN A PUB

I am ok on extra dry Martini and soda water at the moment but always have a nibble with it e.g. olives

    Recovery from making a mistake

I haven’t had a hypo for a good few weeks now which is great. But the last few days have been bad. Looking back to Sunday (now Wednesday), I stupidly eat a small bar of 70% chocolate late at night for the hell of it and think I have been paying for it since with extreme tiredness. Have I upset...

Very Tired On Low Carb Breakfast

Re caffeine intake I think it’s individual. Personally I find a coffee with caffeine causes me problems and have switched to decaf. I have also switched from tea to Rooibis caffeine free tea. Small changes reap big rewards and your pancreas will love you for it. Over time you will start to relax...

    Help please - Reactive Hypoglycemia?

Agree with D Lamont. I would defo have problems with this list of food. Healthy snacks for me include raw veggies such as red pepper, baby carrots, baby courgettes etc with hummus or slices of apple with zero sugar peanut butter. A boiled egg with a bit of smoked salmon/trout is great too. Or...
