    Might be a silly question

Thank you so much for this. I love a good medical thesis. I just read all of it. From tomorrow I am taking Metformin again. The benefits outweigh my reasons for coming off them. Again, thank you.

    Might be a silly question

I didn't know that. That alters things a little, though I am on blood thinners, perindopril and Xarelto that are geared toward cardiovascular but if these also add to that safeguard, then perhaps it's worth me taking them again.

    Might be a silly question

Thank you Andy. Ok, maybe I should have a word with my doctor about the way forward if tests vary. I want to come off the tablets but I want to do it safely.

    Might be a silly question

Does the blood test ordered by my doctor give the same results as the pinprick blood test I do every day? Since being diagnosed (type 2), I have been on a solid Keto diet and since November, I have lost two and a quarter stone. I began taking Metformin end of Dec and monitor my blood daily...

    Low carb sweet/chocolate recommendations.

I found an online carb show which sells things like rhubarb and custard, sour apple, sherbert lemon type boiled sweets so ordered some. They weren't very sweet and had polyols in them. I ate about 8 of one packet and my god, I don't think I have ever run to the toilet so many times in one...

    Worried about taking metmorfin

I had that worry too when I started taking them about 7 weeks ago. I researched it and found it was linked to the slow-release variety which was recalled. I personally will not take the slow-release variety if offered to me until the finds are updated/I research intensively to satisfy myself...

    Low carb sweet/chocolate recommendations.

I've been on low carbs, averaging between 10 and 30 carbs a day for a month and a half and though I don't get cravings for sweet things often, when they do come, I am ravenous for anything sweet. I bought low sugar sweets from Holland and Barret and M&S and was eating those without realising the...

Low-carb flu - how was it for you?

I had it for a day. I had no idea what was wrong with me at the time but felt sick, shivery and tired then ended up going to bed for a few hours. It passed within a day and to be honest, it wasn't that bad, just a bit draining.

    Metformin v weight loss.

I'm still using skimmed milk in coffee. Not much, a splash, but you just gave me a reminder about the carbs in milk. Thanks for that.

    Metformin v weight loss.

Thanks everyone. Yes, January this year. My carb intake per day is under 50 (on a hungry day 60). Since being diagnosed end of Nov I have lost a stone. I want to lose at least two and a half stone still. I have also been keeping a graph Bulkbiker, but mine is pen on paper. I'm not good at...

    Metformin v weight loss.

A little advice needed, please. I began taking one Metformin a day from the 2nd. Since then I have adhered to the low carb diet and I'm losing weight impressively, but I didn't follow the advice of taking two tablets a day from the second week on. I have remained on one, mostly because of the...

If you want roast potatoes or chips...

Try roasting some cauliflower florets. I know that sounds like an immediate disappointment, it did to me, but wow, they do the trick, doesn't even taste like cauli, they are addictive. Snap them off Brush them with oil, 20 mins electric oven at 200. Really satisfying.

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

Today, for the first time since being diagnosed and sticking to the high fat, low carb diet and having given up booze (temporarily) 9 days ago, I fell off the wagon and ate home-made burger in a big brown bun, sweet potato fries, ketchup, mayo, the works. I was 5.8 before it, which is low for...

    Insomnia Metformin

Morning, Usually, I can sleep standing up, in a storm, through a firework display, you name it. Once my head touches the pillow, I am gone in minutes. However, I am on day 9 of Metformin and for the last four nights, absolutely wide awake, all night, not even tired. I am lying there at...

My First home test 8.7 mmol / 156.6

It dropped to 6.8 after lunch and 500-mill tablet, but later after dinner - a small pizza - I know - it was made for me by someone who didn't realise and I ate it, - it will be my last one because my mmol shot up to 12.1! I've looked into Fat Head dough already. Wow this is a lifestyle change...

My First home test 8.7 mmol / 156.6

Thank you both very much. That's completely put my mind at rest and calmed me down. I didn't know what to make of it. Will skip the fasting bloods for a fortnight and concentrate on meal readings. Great liver explanation, made a lot of sense. Phew!
