    It hit me

This last couple of months I've been very irrational. Making serious snap decisions without much thought. I quit a job in October to start another that I requested to be dismissed from yesterday. Reasons I originally processed were nothing to do with diabetes. I've normally got my house kitted...

    Alien in my arm

I'm just guessing at the moment. Last night while trying to sleep, I could feel something kinda sharp protruding from my arm. It was next to my sensor so I'm thinking a previous area. I squeezed and picked until something came out. Looks like dead skin. Anyone ever experienced this?

    Excited

1 of my favourite meals is enchiladas and I've been thinking wraps are off limit till I found low carb wraps in Sainsburys. Can't wait, not had my enchilada bake for some time. 14g carbs each. Anyone found other alternatives to their fave meal? Curious and always looking out for ideas

Libre 2 reader vs phone activation

I'm on my second sensor from last night and I started second with the reader. Wish I hadn't. Constant signal loss alerts every 20 minutes. It's stopped bugging me today though which is good. Do I have to take reader everywhere with me or can I just use my phone when I'm out?

    Smart watch alarm notifications

I started using the Libre 2 last week and I thought at work it would be great if I could be notified on my watch if going hypo. I ordered a new watch in the hope of getting it to link. Tonight I have been messing with my old Samsung Galaxy Active watch and yay I got a hypo alarm. I've already...

    Hypo goodies

Recently had a week of hypos. Dr said honeymoon stage. I've not really had many until this week. Luckily today has been better. I am curious as to what you all use to get glucose up? I've always had the jelly babies but with dentures chewing sweets is awkward as jelly sticks to them. I've...

    Nutrition and supplements

Ok, so I recently posted about fiber being magic for diabetics and I thought I would post a few more things I've found to help. I was diagnosed June this year and I am enjoying being educated about how to live better with my T1 life. I've found that magnesium is a great addition to our...

    Fibre magic

So... I've learned recently that fibre is great for diabetics. I've also learned to deduct the fibre amount from the total carbs. I've switched not only to wholemeal bread, but to wholemeal pasta too and eating more beans and pulses. What are your findings?

Which BG monitor do you use?

I've seen lots here that use the CGM and I've not got 1 yet so I'm curious at other monitors that are being used. In my short time of being diagnosed, I've acquired 3. A Caresense Dual, liked how it does ketone testing but found it more panic causing when it was flashing to test for ketones...

    Pack it in!

After seeing on another forum these cooler packs that look like pencil cases to hold all your insulin, needles, BG monitor and strips. It got me thinking, what do you all use when you go out? I bought a bum bag matching purse from Primark for £6.99 and I can fit both pens, BG monitor kit and a...

    Assessment for diagnoses

Does everyone have the same test? My blood was taken when I was in ICU and the results state that my antibody blood tests, the zinc transporter result was 6.3, islet cell antibody was positive and the GAD antibodies were 1219 and a reduced C-Peptide at 113. From that my diagnosis of being T1 was...

    Highs and lows

Hi again, sorry if I'm posting too much. Recently diagnosed early last month T1. Initially I was having 20 units long lasting insulin shot and 5 to 7 fast acting insulin after food. I was finding I was often 15 to highest 22 before bed and fasting morning reading of about 10. Diabetes nurse...

    Prescription exemption

I have posted a form off to cover my prescriptions. Will it only cover my diabetes medication and required things like testing strips or will it cover everything I need now I've got diabetes? Like my asthma medication and future illness like anti biotics etc...

    New job with T1

Started a new job today, first job after being diagnosed diabetic. It was all go this morning testing blood, getting stuff ready to take with but made it out the house less than an hour after getting up. Bloods behaved today and I'm looking forward to having my tea when I get home. Injected in...

    Tastes have changed

Since I've been diagnosed I've noticed I'm choosing different food to eat. I'm not usually a fan of fish at all. I've been eating a lot of tuna mayo and yesterday I bought a lot of John West mackerel as I really fancied it. Is my body telling me what I need now I'm controlled with insulin or...

    Hi new Diabuddies

The 7th of June I was rushed into hospital. My daughter felt it strange that I hadn't replied to any messages that day and came to check on me. I was unresponsive, difficulties with breathing and so sleepy. Spent a few days in ICU being fed through a tube, drips and many treatments I began feel...
