Maintaining remission/getting back on the wagon

You’ve had a difficult year and been poorly, steroids being a necessary evil. Like you I’ve also got to a point where I’m half in and out of the wagon. I’m married to a diabetic who is quite happy to medicate and eat what he wants although to be fair he doesn’t go wild. What he does do is to...

    Little shell shocked..

Hi, at least you’re now on the path to improving. I’m in wales so don’t know how it would apply to yourself but managed to talk my surgery into meter(reps give them to the surgery apparently) and into prescribing testing strips as I reasoned that medicating me was more expensive. So far they’ve...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.7, first decent reading since Xmas! Back on the straight and narrow

    Type 2 Trulicity

There are a lot of nasty viruses about. May also be worth checking blood sugars as can go up when you’re poorly and contribute to some symptoms. It never hurts to chat to someone from the surgery either, armed with info about blood sugars etc.

Doctor not 100% if I have type 2

Currently in our area with different criteria meaning we screen far more women in pregnancy for diabetes, there is a 12 % rate, which includes all diabetics and mainly gestational diabetics. Far higher rates than in the past, that were known about anyway. Personally I wonder if it has more to do...

Not diabetic but go below 3mmol BG?

Always worth checking by needleprick with the low ones as cgm not always as accurate. Mine goes down for example if I’ve been lying on that arm.

Just been diagnosed Type 2 Would Love Some Advice

Within a week of going low carb, boy did I feel better! That surprised me and as a side effect I lost 3 stone very quickly so for me it was well worth trying. I’d gone down the increasing medication route for about 5 years after diagnosis which although controlled my blood sugars, up to a point...

Type 2 Diabetes and driving on hand controls

My dad has his converted for a relatively low cost, few hundreds and you could still drive it using foot pedals if you needed to. I doubt that he ever declared it so to my knowledge wouldn’t know about insurance. He probably sent that up anyway by some of the things he did to the car, one of...

    Type 2 Background Retinopathy

A friend of mine is an ophthalmologist, she also says background retinopathy can be reversed with good blood sugar control. My last scan showed background retinopathy in both eyes and since then my blood sugar control is the best it’s ever been so we will see what happens. Optician told me their...

    Libre2 Prescription rejected

We weren’t able to get any at all for about 18 months and I’ve only been able to get them on script. Is it different in wales where I am to England?

If you phone abbot about a faulty sensor they don’t seem to ask as many questions and resolve problem straight away

    Libre2 Prescription rejected

I didn’t get the impression that silver surfer was being insensitive but just congratulating someone in successfully obtaining cgm on prescription instead of having to self fund, which is a rare occurrence for us type 2’s

    Libre2 Prescription rejected

Mine are on repeat prescription and are 5litre thingies, so huge! I usually either take them back to a pharmacy or the hospital to dispose of them, didn’t realise the council would take them! I am in wales mind

Need help understanding thought I did

I don’t think we truly accept what carbs do to us until our sugars shoot up like yours did. At least you’re testing and knew what was going on. I’ve finally accepted that low carb as in keto low is probably the way to go for lots of us unless we want to be increasing medication with all the side...

Newly Diagnosed, medicated but BS still wild

My graphs look like yours when I’ve eaten too many carbs. If they spike up I’ll often have hypo after, unless my carbs are restricted to about 20-40 per day then my graphs level off a bit and stay within range. I had to reduce to these levels with advice otherwise the gliclizide caused me hypos...
