Rybelsus (oral semaglutide) was a bust

I take Jardiance and have not had to pee more, but I drink a lot more. I have had no uti or thrush. Doctor says it’s because my blood sugars have been in good range ( not too many carbs)

    Mental health

I hear you. So the really big challenge is the mental one, and coping with disbetes2 will be the manifestation. It just is awful that we can’t control our lives . We just have to admire ourselves for all the good strategies we manage to follow each day. No day is a failure. Some days we manage...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

56.7 kg and it does not give me joy. That’s borderline underweight and I can’t eat carbs in any amount .

    Fasting blood 6.6 today

Would that be because I didn’t exercise yesterday? I am on metformin 2000mg and Januvia 100mg , the latter I started 10 days ago. I’ve been seeing 6.1 and 5.9 lately so this is disappointing. I feel smashed and stressed with end of teaching term here in Australia, I just crawled into bed. I...

When Does the Thirst and Peeing Stop?

I went up to 2000g metformin and added Januvia . The peeing stoped. I go once a night. I thought I had a peeing habit too. For like 20 years! My hba1c never went past 5.6 because I was eating low carbohydrates but endocrinologist said you ARE diabetic and it’s not your fault. My doctor doesn’t...

    Good news for Januvia.

Is my chronic stuffy nose ( allergy swelling ) inflammation? Since I have been on Sitagliptin I have not had a stuffy nose. I can breathe at night. And yet stuffy nose is meant to be a side effect. Not me.

Oh wow. I have this too! I top up with food to stop night time hunger and get this! Ah so it might be the Januvia!!

Started Januvia and for the first time fbgl was 90 :)

Endocrinologist said I am probably type two but just did a test for type one markers . My insulin level was 2 and my bgl was 100.8 . That’s on 2K metformin. Anyway I can’t eat just 12 g of carbs meal while travelling so I asked for some additional help. She prescribed Januvia. Normally I am 117...

Type 2 Experiences with Sitagliptin/ Januvia?

I am on metformin 2000mga day. My fasting levels were 117 (6.5) and my low carb diet felt too restrictive. I am slim and fit. Started Januvia 4 days ago and this morning fasting level is 90. I have never seen this number fasting. So I am in love. Endocrinologist said “let’s try Januvia , it is...

    Hba1c 42 to 35

Yes . I looked up studies . Not so much on fasting but the after meal readings . Can be 10-20 percent higher . The blood in your veins is the best to measure .

Travelling in southern Italy with pre diabetes.

Yes I do this . Just am afraid of all carb dishes and a communal salad bowl where my share should be polite.

Yes if I say I am diabetic surely a lot of people will respect that. At least for obvious things like biscuits. I can pull out some nuts so they can see I have food in that coffee plus biscuit situation. I could also have a biscuit snapped in half or a whole one if I am super hungry. Mainly...

Travelling in southern Italy with pre diabetes.

Yes, I will say that. Unfortunately people like my sister in law do not understand what a carbohydrates rich food is. “Have a banana then ? Does that have carbohydrates? “ I will just say I can eat meat fish chicken nuts dairy green vegetables tomatoes eggs prosciutto. And then say that food...

Travelling in southern Italy with pre diabetes.

But it won’t end there…chickpeas , beans … also rice has no gluten so they would say here have some dish with pulses and rice and potatoes. But thanks for trying to think of an easy fix! My Italian relative told me the other day that I’d better accustom myself to eating carbs again otherwise...

Travelling in southern Italy with pre diabetes.

I will concentrate on eating enough of the meats and cheeses etc to make them think I am a good eater. It’s going to be hard when they serve me a bowl of pasta or hand me a chunk of delicious home made bread.

I am just looking at what I can say yes to, how to negotiate eating in Italian homes without being seen as a slim person with eating problems ‘in her head’.

    Started very low carb.

I am happy with anything up to 7.8 at the two hour mark. If it’s something like 6.9 I celebrate. I think the damage does not occur below 7.8. There is no stress on the system. I am sorry I do not have the link to the science article, but you rock!
