A woman awakes in the middle of the night to find her husband not in bed. She puts on her robe and goes downstairs to look for him.
She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of hot cocoa in front of him. He appears to be deep in thought, just staring at the wall. She watches as he wipes away a tear from his eye.
“What’s the matter dear?” she whispers as she steps into the room. “Why are you down here at this time of night!?”
The husband looks up from his drink, “It’s the 20th anniversary of the day we met.”
She can’t believe he has remembered. She starts to tear up.
The husband continues solemnly, “Do you remember 20 years ago when we started dating? I was 18 and you were only 15”
Once again, the wife is touched to tears thinking that her husband is so caring and sensitive.
    “Yes, I do,” she replies.
The husband pauses… the words were not coming easily.
“Do you remember when your father caught us in the back seat of my car?”
“Yes, I remember,” said the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him.
    The husband continued.
“Do you remember when he shoved the shotgun in my face and said, ‘Either you marry my daughter or I will make sure you spend the next 20 years in prison?'”
“I remember that too,” she replied softly…
He sighed as he wiped another tear away from his cheek and said, “I would have gotten out today.”

It's difficult to laugh at paedophilia

Not as funny for the victims perhaps.

The world of reality happens to include a decent injection of the other reality ... humour. There is a difference between the two

Well as one of the said victims, I have to say my sense of humour is still intact and I found the joke hilarious.

Merry Christmas. Oh and Mary was around 14 when she gave birth to baby Jesus......

Hmmm, she was 15, a year or two more, then it would be different story/joke, no ? I can see both sides, but
my teenager is 15, I'm a very protective mum .............................................

Well, whether she was 14 or 15 doesn't make much difference really. None of it can be taken as fact, same as the joke. It didn't really happen ( well, the Jesus bit may have ) !

A year or so back we had a flurry of complaints from a minority about jokes being non PC. Some threads were removed. Every single joke has the potential to upset someone. My own view is that if a joke offends me then it's up to me to work out why I'm offended and deal with it; it's my problem not the problem of the person who posted it. I would hate this forum to be a joke free zone, we need a bit of laughter to get us through dealing with the day to day problems of living with diabetes.

You shouldn't pick up a little something on your way to work, have a healthy breakfast at home. :D

I cannot agree, if you put a racist joke on here, and 30 people liked, and 1 person was offended, it isn't the offended that has a problem it is the 31 that are wrong.

If OP edits 15 to 16 end of problem, in this day and age it is easy to alter a joke to keep fun without offended anyone

Well, it's hardly pornographic is it ? "Do you remember when we were caught in the backseat of a car" ? Is this what really offends ? You really feel this needs editing ? For what reason ?

I think the problem here was the term 'paedophilia'. Since the quaint old term 'dating' was used, that to my mind means kissing and cuddling.

perhaps it is a matter of experience, some spent time in the bakseat "kissing and cuddling"
, others went for full blown sex!
I tend not to jump to the worst possible conclusions!

    I love a good joke =)
I'm new here and this wasn't the best way to introduce myself.

We all have an opinion - and if it's cool to post a joke about a man who committed a crime that warrants 20 years of prison, then it's cool for me to say, I'd rather have not read that.

20 years in prison for getting caught in the backseat of a car ? Where do you live ? N Korea ?

I didn't say I was offended, mellitus trap posted that paedophilia was not funny, referring to the ages in the joke 15, if OP changed 15 to 16 it would solve the problem without anyone having to post they were offended or not offended.
Joke has now lost it's fun factor over one digit
