2016/17 Football Season

Well, Mané is on his way to Liverpool. £34 million in the end, possibly increasing to £36 million in some circumstances. As I said before, a good profit, but is selling on your best players really the way to run a football club?

I blame their agents: after all, it's in their interests to keep players on the move for big ticket prices, because win or lose, they get a share of the fees. Trouble is, once the prospect of playing for a top team is dangled in front of players, they usually can't resist it (though whether one should apply the description "top team" to Liverpool is debateable :))

Parasites, the lot of them :(

Saints really need to get on with appointing their new manager, before any more players get itchy feet - nature abhors a vacuum, and all that. Word is that they want to make an announcement before 4th July, when everybody gets back from their holidays but time is running out.

I wouldn't bother with the bucket and spade, if I were you, but it might be wise to take a mace spray and a rape alarm - even if you're a bloke :D :D

Fratton Park is a tinpot dump it's only fractionally better than Brunton Park

Only been to Portsmouth once

They really should go up this season surely

We will scrat around as usual we did OK until we got flooded then it all went booby do's up

Guiseley Wednesday night for our lads always seem to have friendies there and i think we won it last year. Then comes Oldham on 16th and Liverpool at home 20th July.
Then comes a trip to Austria to face Werder Bremen and FC Ingolstadt
Then the real football starts on 6th August 1st game Brentford. Wagner has had the squad hard at it with training and we have some new signings so going to be an interesting season and i hope we make a better job of it than the last one UTT :D:D

Good luck for this coming season

I can't wait football and the olympics sport heaven

Huddersfield have signed defender Christopher Schindler from TSV 1860 Munich for an undisclosed club-record fee, understood to be around £1.8m.

The 26-year-old came through the German second-tier side's youth academy, playing in over 200 games for the club.

Schindler has signed a three-year contract with the Terriers.

Hope things go well this season.

It's traditional for Saints supporters to take the mickey out of Pompey but I have to admit to a grudging admiration for what they have done since going bust - it really did look as if they would cease to exist as a club at one point. The club is now owned by the fans and - as they are always keen to tell everyone - they also own Fratton Park: it may be a dump but the ground it stands on has some value and if there's a future for Pompey it probably lies in selling the land, building a new stadium somewhere cheaper and investing the proceeds in the future of the club - decent training facilities and investment in some quality players, not a few overpaid primadonnas, which is partly where they went wrong last time around.

Having said all of which, I don't expect to see them in the Prem any time soon. :D

Well we won our opening friendly with Guiseley 1-0 am pleased with that. :)
Next Saturday we travel to Oldham for another friendly.Should be a good game.

Well, just to keep everyone updated about Rovers.

We had our first pre season friendly on Friday v Liverpoo.
Four different teams playing 45 minutes each.
We drew the first half 0-0 and we looked half decent.
We lost second half one nil to a very good goal. We don't have strength in depth.
However, we had 13000 people in.
A great money making exercise!
Well we know our fixtures now and it isn't anything to get excited about.
Bromley away first game.
Barrow first home game.
Ho hum!

Gotta get out of this league.
We're gonna smash it this season!

Pre season well and truly under way now!

Four weeks to go!

Just 3 weeks to the big kick off and we are raring to go.But first we have to take on the mighty Klopp at Anfiield next Wednesday and then we have a trip to Austria and then we should be ready for action UTT :D:D

There is a tribal rivalry between Portsmouth and Southampton and Portsmouth fans would be able to write some equally provocative things about Southampton.
There is, and they do :)

Before you take what I said too seriously, may I suggest that you read post number 50 on this thread, as well? ;)

Whats post 50 gotta do with it ? thats one of my posts :D
Are you sure? :D

Anyway, I meant the post below, whatever number it is. I always was rubbish at counting .....:p

Hope things go well this season.
