2016/17 Football Season

Ok here's my take on the Gooners at this moment in time!

First, the club, the club is one of the top four clubs and has an incredible history second to only man u, in the premiership. They have qualified for the champions league for almost two decades. They have been at or near the top of the league every season since the millennium! Even though they are competing against six or seven of the top clubs not only in this country but in the world! This history is down to the running of the club and of course the management! They have a stadium that all clubs admire and fill it every league game! They have a great tradition of playing football which is recognised to be the most entertaining and skilful, also, has played a part in their success. The tactics are and were ahead of everyone else and the production line of young professionals coming through is second to none! They have long produced international players. It is a club to be admired and many clubs wish they could have the stability and resources at their clubs. So many are indeed jealous of what has been achieved. In an environment in the capital, where so many clubs are viewing for ascension, how the club have achieved continuing top four status defies the odds!
The manager and players. Arsene Wenger is no doubt one of the games legend, nothing else! He is a master tactician and technician. To get a club in a league that is the best and hardest to win, to finish in the top four for nearly two decades is remarkable and unbelievable! It just can't be done! But he has! He has taken on all the best clubs and achieved so much and not sold the club in the process. He has set up a dynamic where, the club has won honours and become one of the top clubs in the world, he oversees the running of the whole set up from youngsters to professionals.
Some of the world's best known players have played in his teams, they fit in to the manager's style and tactics, often playing with panache and skill. He is a legend but not a magician in the sense that, he cannot conjure up, winning the title as much as the supporters would wish!
Most of the players have nothing but respect for the manager and his style of management. The players don't let him down, they have a lot of pressure in a highly competitive arena, where they are not only against the best players in the world but against their colleagues within the squad, the manager has always created a squad emphasis on his players and has always rotated his players and is always introducing new talent. Always under pressure from the supporters and of course the really hostile media!
To say that the media have undermined the manager and have always tried their utmost to ensure he gets the worst press possible. This is understandable when you always read the man u and Liverpoo biased press and SSN!

The supporters. (No apologies!))
As someone who supports and travels all over to watch his team lose and maybe like yesterday get a result now and then, you have to wonder what planet some of these (so called) supporters are from!
I understand the frustration of not winning the title for some, but there is no inherent right or justification for demanding success on such a highly competitive division.
Apparently the grass is always greener on pastures anew, well it's not, often what you wish for, or dreams, does not come to fruition and the club will find itself fighting possible relegation. Football in the premiership is not dominated by one or two clubs, English football is thriving and the difference between the top ten and bottom ten is negligible, every team can beat the other, there will always be freaky results, You cannot guarantee success, the most clubs can do is compete and stay in the premiership. Leicester won it deservedly last season, they are struggling. Arsenal are relentless in their stay in the top four! What can the supporters be thinking if they believe that a change in manager will win the league, that is cloud cuckoo thinking!
The majority of Arsenal supporters are appreciative and are supportive of their club, the small minority have an agenda to cause damage to the club because of the so called lack of success! This has been fuelled by the media!
These so called supporters of course would love success but they have no reason to demand a change in policy that has seen a level of consistency in the demands of the football hierarchy. Who else will take over a club, I can't think of anyone, who has the guile and character to win a title in the 'Arsenal' way! There is no Englishman, maybe, a coach who has guided a continental club to a few titles in a two team league!
Arsene Wenger is an absolute gentleman, a legend and a Gooners God!
I guarantee that when he finally does retire, these so called supporters will be the first to demand his return!

Anyone, that keeps their nearest rivals (spurs!) in their place, should be revered, not harassed!

Yep me too. :) Last season who came 3rd in a 2 horse race? :D

As I said before I feel so sad about this. I did type a longer reply but deleted it cos @Lamont D has said it all really but without the expletives that I would have used.

Well I just showed my hubby your long post. He's the gooner really not me. He disagrees with you and still wants a change! :banghead: Yep be careful what you wish for....... Hey ho, maybe we will be going to FGR more often in the future.

Sometimes you can't see the woods from the trees.

You can't nowadays buy success! Even the best coaches can't guarantee success in the premiership!
Regardless of what happens in the near future, legends like Wenger, will be revered by the majority, You just can't take it away!
My club has had only one real manager that is revered by all and I mean all our fans, we have had others like Aldo! But no one compares to what Johnny King did for my club! He had his dissenters, he had his critics, he had a way of playing that would be under scrutiny for every supporter. He achieved miracles to a club that has spent so much of its history in the fourth tier, without a lot of money to boot!
He never promised a trip to the moon, but it was close!

Lincoln are achieving so much and they will deservedly benefit from their cup success, I believe they will win our division, play offs is my prayer, but will we? Nowt in footie is should! Could, maybe! Hope is eternal, class is eternal and Arsene has got class in spades!

We'll play FGR in the playoffs!

Draw for Quarter finals taking place as we speak.
Middlesbrough v Man City or Huddersfield. Be a good one. Wait till 28th Feb to find out which of us gets em.
Sutton/Arsenal v Lincoln.
Spurs v Millwall (I reckon that's the end of the line for Millwall).
Chelsea v Man United Ding dong battle

My predictions

Arsenal, Spurs,Chelsea and Man City in Semi's

Final Man City v Chelsea
Winners Man City

Thanks. :)
Son and hubby are in the ground already....only 5 people there so far lol.

What a dump! And the ground is as well!
You can watch it on the television with your feet up!

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks. I am so glad I stayed home and my ticket went to someone who lost out in the ballot, so that's good. :)

@zand, the Gooners are going from one of the best playing surfaces in British football, to a plastic monstrosity! Not good enough for professional football!

It is awful, close up, there is better at our youth club!
