@cdpm , many of our members are trying to be supportive with suggestions to the problems you mention. You have multiple barriers to managing. It seems you could do with an advocate to assist you. Your profile mentions you are in Canada. Are you aware of the agencies that can help you?

I have 2 appointments next month after my August move. Health Care ones. It's possible they can refer me somewhere. And if they don't hear me I will make another appointment and bring a family member. I won't bring them to start with due to the embarrassment and blame from them . They believe that type 2 is your own fault.

But even on 160 units of toujeo I did not reach goal
I might just do a huge jump to save some time.
Or just quit using any.

And when I first called the pharmacist ( my next endo. appt. isn't til nov) I was asking what I could do as an alternative because it's not working. But he just kept getting me to increase it. I was really hoping for a different answer.
But I guess medical advances and discoveries havnt got that far yet.

Could you self refer to any of the agencies listed in the information I provided?
It looks as though there could be assistance available. You certainly do not need to have ‘support’ from a family member who , by blaming you, is not supportive at all.

I looked over the document you sent.
I am receiving the maximum financial help. For housing and food.
Foot care is 100 plus per appointment. I'm not not sure why that's on there as a helpful thing.
I checked for diabetes support groups and am on a list should one be developed.
Our good food box was canceled during covid and never reestablished.
I'm unable to get food from the food banks. For very unfair reasons. We have 2 where I live.
When I asked to receive soup as I am endentulous the lady said exactly--- we do not cater to people. The other food bank replied to my request with- we don't give out special food.
But even so if they would help by giving me usable foods I still need $7 every visit.
We have a place with free lunches 5 x a week and a different place for evening meals 5x a week. But again I need the $7 to get there then back. And there was a free bus pass program for this but it was cut out. And the lunch one served the perfect food for me--- soup.
I was involved with mental health here but they closed my file. The reason being that you had to be "working on something ". I guess needing help with eating and cooking and finding food was not " working on something "
So it seems that I'm truly at a dead end.

So say I decide to go with the increasing and increasing the insulin.
How do I keep the weight from climbing with it?
Because you just can't have both-- the insulin without gain.

If I had a plan in place first before I just blindly do the same again and again. To prevent weight gain this time. Like maybe switch the food bought around to super low calorie things.
I tried a few weeks ago to buy some fresh carrots but there were so many moudy ones in the bag it was going to be too much loss and these were not reduced rack carrots. I was going to make a soup.
So I'm holding off the increases until I figure out how not to gain more weight or I will just need more increases for higher body weight then be stuck in that circle again.

Soo I called the Dr even tho my appointment isn't til Nov.
Guess what the suggestion was?
Yep. That's correct!! Increase the insulin. Again. More.
Toujeo up to 100 from 90.
I'm so distressed and I don't think anyone really understands why.

I understand that it's none of my business and the question was about diabetes, but have you tried looking for a job on freelance exchanges? usually, it is not very difficult to earn $7 for transport, at least copywriting or filling in content is usually obtained by everyone.

Do you have a forest near your house? At least mushrooms, berries, and herbs can be collected there. As a person whose childhood was hungry enough, I can share a recipe for nettle soup, but I doubt that you will eat something like that. You can also buy seeds and grow vegetables on the windowsill (or not buy, but ask friends who have a vegetable garden)

I have no idea how Canadian law works, but I hope all of the above is legal

You probably already know that, but maybe it will help.
I have a different type of diabetes, but judging by the fact that you are alive after your dose was reduced from 160 to 25, your pancreas is not bad.

The dose was started at 25 on the toujeo but I did not reduce it. I already knew that was too low for me. But no one listened. So I just did my own amount. Cautiously.

I feel for you. I have chronic pain conditions and was told when the pain increases it increases cortisol which raises blood sugars! I cant imagine what its like to live with Diabetes in a country where you have to pay for meds/insurance etc. Could you see a different doctor? Can you get help from a food bank for meals? Are there any options for mental health help where you live? if not have you looked online? It was only yesterday I posted about diabetes burnout :(, its such a difficult condition on its own let alone with additional impacts. I have good and bad days both physically and mentally {currently awake at 2am due to pain} but I make a list of what im struggling with and usually go online to find what could help. When ive done that I cross them off one by one if theyre no good. Yes its frustrating, annoying, debilitating, upsetting and more but you'll have something to show the doctors to say "look! ive tried looking and trying different things, now its your turn" I highly recommend this book that I read when I was feeling extremely low.

Feeling very sick from all the food -- trying to make myself not so ravenous from the huge amount of insulin

There's nothing they can do if I told them. I have barely enough funds for my one meal.
It's obviously easier to hand out meds ( insurance) instead of adequate incomes.
If you don't tell them, they're diagnosing and prescribing 'blind'. It's not fair to expect them to help you properly, if you aren't giving them the full information. More than that, it could be dangerous.

I suspect that at the level of energy consumption you're at, cortisol might be the prime driver of your BG problems. If your doctors don't get the full picture, how can they asess Your insulin needs?

I'm not having a go at you.

Can I ask how much you can spend per week on food shopping? No obligation to answer, of course.

It depends on the food sales.
So it can vary from week to week.
With a total monthly amount of $60 left for food it's not alot.
