@cdpm , do you have food banks in your country?
Yes.
I've asked both for my basket to contain soup. One said we don't cater to people. The other said we don't give out special food.

People are allowed 3 days of food every second month.

So I'm unable to continue with my health care appts. But i expected that. And they-- the specialist dr-- feels I need to see another specialist due to
another condition he discovered. But of course funds are needed. And I can't do the Ed help without transportation funds.

I may as well not go to Dr's.

I wonder when my endo. Dr will require extra funds.
I get that they need to be paid.
They just aren't under my insurance plan.

So onward I March with many health conditions unchecked and /or untreated.
It's a lot of physical pain daily tho.

The bad luck never ends!!
My new place has stair steps that keeps cutting the back of one of my legs and it reopens and bleeds when it hits the steps coming downstairs.
And the landlord won't fix it!
I mean saying that here doesn't get it fixed but I'm wanted to share it anyway.
The level of stress of pain from eating and digestive issues and housing issues and financial issues maybe are why my bg is always so bad despite any meds or life style changes or food choices?

Are you renting privately @cdpm
I'm in a subsidized place with a family member. But
While we waited 3 years for the unit things changed and now it's not subsidized. So I took another hit to my income to try to pay half of the 270 dollars increase from the privately owned place we just moved from. I feel that they should have told us of the new rules around rent but they didn't so it's too late now.
So I lost many things like telephone, most of my food money, and any transportation.

I'm sorry @cdpm I think most people would find your situation depressing. I'm a little puzzled regarding the extra rent you have to pay. Was the new amount stated on the contract you presumably signed for your unit, or was it still the old amount? If it was the old amount you've got a case to argue with whoever you pay.

There was no where to go back to. We already gave the officially required 2 months notice to move out so it will mean homelessness now if we don't stay.
The new amount was on the paperwork but the woman said none of it will come out of your pocket (meaning food or other necessary things ). Here the disability is divided into 2 parts.
One for shelter, the other for basic needs. So the other shelter costs ( lights and water)were added onto the rent making us have to dig into the food part. It used to be based ( the subsidized housing) on your income but it changed while we were waiting. Now they want nearly your full shelter allowance ( from your disability money) leaving you to dig into your basic needs allowance ( for food and clothes and other necessities).
She knew this but did not tell us.
We had no idea things changed. But we found a group to share this info. on to help other people to know what happened so they can know the changes.
And we found out that we can ask for a rent review.

I'm more depressed having to restart my insulin. It doesn't even work.
Hungry and leg pain and leg cramps all starting again.
Staying off the scale though. I don't want to get in a bad mental place seeing the gain. (Yes there are worse mental places then depression for me anyway).
Really very upset.
Adf isn't safe with insulin.
Back to omad.
And more frequent digestive distress. And more having to stay indoors. And more food limitations. I'm really very close to saying f it all. Eat when and what I want.
Because I'm not a free person this way.

Plus I feel like the leg cramp side effects are a dangerous risk. Because sometimes my leg will suddenly cramp going up or down the stairs and in the shower. Both of those places risk falling .
As for cramping in my sleep I'm already up every 1 to 2 hours in the bathroom so they are not much more disturbing for sleep.

It's very hard having to stay home all the time, not seeing any other family, having no media. Not being able to see well enough to read despite new glasses every 3 years. And feeling ravenous always. Not being able to get out to walk.
Very depressed.

Could you invite any of your family/friends round to see you at home?
Are there any 'befriending' type groups where someone could visit you at home?
Family lives a minimum of 8 hours car drive from me.
I'm not sure if theirs any befriending groups. I'd have to call around to see.

So I went to my 2 health care apps. today that I mentioned previously.
One was a nurse. She explained why my a1c doesn't match my high home numbers. It's because my numbers aren't staying at the 12 to 16s. If they were my a1c would be much higher than the 7.1. And she said the teaching of lose weight you will help your diabetes is old school thinking now. She said this when I told her how my 60 pound weight loss did nothing to help my diabetes. She didnt have any food recommendations just to come back in Nov.
My 2nd health care appt. was with a diabetes counselor. She recommended seeing a Dr about my bowel issues (the fact that most foods send Me right to the toilet ). And she wants to refer me to eating disorder help. As I have a history with eating disorders. I'm not sure if I will agree with that as I will need nearly 7 bucks every appt. (The only reason I got to do the 2 today is they were in the same clinic and I have just moved down the street from it so I walked but when it's icy out I won't be going).
So we're my 2 appts. fruitful?
Maybe idk.

Kia ora cdpm! I was really pleased to read this entry, as at least now you are back 'in the system' and being seen by specialists, and who know of your complex health situation, and all now in these very tough times for many across the globe.

I was intrigued that a diabetes nurse referred to weight loss for type 2 diabetes being old school - what a hoot! The sick fat cell theory is still going strong as far as I know, although I would be the first to say shrinking those things does not necessarily lead to remmission! It does for many, though. Multiple causes and so on in a complex system, the blood glucose regulation system. Lots to go wrong all over the body and in multiple organs, and at cell level, as we know all too well. Anyway. it's a tough road for us also living in 'interesting times' when it comes to diet and type two treatments. As well as the dire straights of our economies for most folks.

I'm pleased that you are living with someone now too - was it a family member if i recall? (I was reading you earlier this morning, and my coffees haven't caught up!) That can be a comfort for sure, even with awful landlords and rent situations. Well, you know we are rooting for you cdpm. And pleased to read you are still hanging in there, and the Forum is a comfort too?

I didn't continue (the medical appts.) because they have not been any help to me.

I believe the meals on wheels here stop to chat when they deliver but I could only get one of their meals every 3 days (cost).
In addition to going thru many hoops to get one I can tolerate and swallow and it be a diabetic one.

I don't want insulin to be my only treatment option as I'm being told. I can't stand this hunger and fighting off weight gain. And being distressed everytime I test. And being obsessed with every bite of food and everything I drink .
Idk how much longer I can hang on.
What shud I do?

Poor cdpm! But you know we cannot suggest anything more than what we have. And as for getting support from your country's healthcare and welfare systems - you need to be in the system to do that. And my guess is, my understanding is, you need to be seeing those specialists and carers and medical professionals for them to really help you. Getting teeth for instance? So you can eat properly. My feeling is no wonder you are consumed with hunger, if you have been unable to eat properly for a really long time. And of course - the high cost of food, and the rising cost of food is a huge issue.

Cdpm - I don't know how your problems can be helped outside of the system.
