Are foodbanks not free in Canada? Or if foodbanks are no good, somewhere people can get help with food?
There are a few places other than food banks but if you don't live close to walk to them you are just out of luck. I've called them.
They won't deliver.
I don't know what families with kids do. Beg for rides or hitch hike.

I guess there really isn't any hope for better numbers. Keto or low carb didn't have any effects or other meds.
It's sad eating.

Not going to be able to get to any of the many wonderful free holiday meals this year. Nor last year.
I'm not sure what I will be having.
Likely nothing special.
Still sad eating.

Still sad eating and concerned that the choices are making my issues worse.
But I enjoy my bike.

So I'm now 1 whole month into the new insulin use. I'm finding I have to eat alot of sugar tho. Not for hypos as that's still rare for me. But out of fear of them. Plus finances. Plus you have to have carbs with this insulin.

But I can still buy one can of tuna a day or 1 can of canned chicken /ham/turkey. So even tho that's actually less calories a day at least it's not all that sugar. I mean how is more calories but it being sugar carbs calories better?
I don't get any veggies anyway and I don't eat fruits and only grains when I have to like a can of pasta in sauce.
I guess it's something to think about. All that.

I'm sorry I can't remember if you said you counted your carbs for meals or not @cdpm What insulin are you on - basal/ bolus regime or mixed insulin?
I'm on a premixed insulin.
I used to count my carbs but stopped when doing so made no difference.

I understand your fear of hypo's, as they're not nice, but if you're monitoring your levels with a libre sensor, have you considered only having sugar when Libre shows you're maybe around 6, and you have a downward trend, so you're not just adding empty carbs that may be unnecessary.

I've tried everything under the sun.
That's why I get hopeless and tired.

Today the Xmas box came for the poor people. It had 2 bags of candy and 3 pks of cookies and 4 granola bars and crackers and trail mix and a very large jar of strawberry jam and 1 can of tuna and a scarf and some socks.

Maybe you could use the strawberry jam and the candy for hypos?

And the can of tuna is useful....

As for the socks, they may be boring but they are always useful (in my household anyway. My daughter and I always find each other interesting socks for Xmas,)

I'm so pleased that you are enjoying your exercise bike.

Distressed today again.
I can't see any way out of it all.
There are just too many things to manage. Too many things out of my control.
I've gotten many great suggestions here. I've talked to my Dr.
I've tried many many things to make a difference in my numbers and other issues.
My body just hates me! Doesn't co operate.
So considering all that I've tried and all the years I've had the health conditions I can only come up with one thing that I can try.

A serious strict once a day meal as healthy as I can do. Plus continue my bike riding indoors.
No dam meds that cause weight gain or hunger. No testing that I can't change numbers from anyway.

Then hope for the best.
If I let go of those things and live this way I will reduce some stress.
Love u all and happy holidays!
Until I post again take care.

Still sad because my gums still hurt. It will be 3 years in March since the surgery. I know a liquid diet is the answer. It's all that doesn't hurt, doesn't cause scrapes, doesn't cause swelling, or bleeding from scrapes.

But fruits are out due to diabetes (fruit smoothies). And cost of even berries. Same as veggies which I'm fine with anyway not having. Pureed food looks disgusting. And still somehow hurts.
I have asked my diabetes team but they suggest 1. Foods I can't afford or 2. Foods bad for diabetics ( instant sugar flavored oatmeal and regular ice cream!!!).
So I'm on my own as usual?
Any suggestions? Not mashed whipped potatoes or yogurt. For obvious reasons. And I hate veggie juices but I would if I had to. I mean the cheap canned kinds.

Does anyone know the purpose of drinking broth? Does it have nutritional value? Or is basically just brown salt water? I mean the canned variety.

So upon trying to come up with things to drink that is sort of like food too I saw broth and having soup with no pieces. I rarely can find soup with no pieces. So maybe I can put a regular soup thru a strainer such as one would use for pasta?
And tomato juice. I haven't found a vegetable juice that isn't bitter. So maybe add a tiny bit of Stevia?
I hate cows milk. I've tried plant milk but it has no flavor. Maybe a tiny bit of cocoa and Stevia?

I really like grape juice but the sugar is too much. I've never seen a diet one.
Fruit juice would expand drinks alot but the sugars too high. There are a few diet ones but they are more water than anything.

Are there any more ideas?

I think broth does have some calories, but most of the googling I do suggests it can be used to lose weight...

Do you have any sort of kitchen blender or liquidiser that you could use to liquidise normal food that you cook?

As for grape juice, the only low carb version that I know of is wine....

Yes I have a magic bullet and a food processor and a blender.
Pureed foods look disgusting.
