Hi All,
I was diagnosed T2 10 years ago and manage with Metformin the best I can.
A few months ago I went to my GP with aching legs, AGE I was told...the aching turned to painful and now I find it difficult to walk, and I am woken in the night by the pain.
My GP has now diagnosed peripheral neurpathy, she gave me a prescription for a mild anti depressant....? she said it would help me sleep...no trouble there, as I drop off for long periods in the afternoon/evening,blood test show nothing amiss of course, does any one have any answers for me please

Hi and welcome to the forum @fiestynan

I'll bump your post up the forum in the hope that someone will reply and offer some advice. Best wishes.

It could be worth asking your GP to check your Vit B12 levels, along with Folate and Ferratin as Metformin is known to sometimes cause poor absorption of Vit B 12. Be sure to ask for a copy of your results, with the ranges.

If you check the signs and symptoms, you will see that pains, neuropathy, fatigue are just a few of many symptoms possible if Vit B12 or Folate deficient.

More info and advice can be obtained from the PAS/B12 deficiency forum - https://healthunlocked.com/pasoc

Hello. there. Sympathies for your pain. Just wondering if you take statins as leg cramp/ pain can be a side effect?

Taking Metformin and statins for just a few weeks left me with aching legs, but I was so bad that I stopped taking the tablets - I get so many side effects with just about everything I am prescribed.
I have taken Alpha Lipoic acid tablets recently and I put a small pinch of cinnamon in my coffee, as they are supposed to help. They do seem to, to such an extent that I am walking in a procession tomorrow, which will be a great improvement as I could not walk or stand for long periods at the start of the year.
