Advice on Newcastle Diet for smaller women

I take my iPhone most places including when I run - not everywhere and that records steps, distance etc. I use the iPhone health app for that and put my weight in the app . I'm doing 'couch to 5k ' at the moment which is a running programme which I never thought I'd manage but I've nearly finished now. I'm already booked in for a 5k run in September. I use my fitness pal to record all my food so I know what spikes me I think. But I think I may be similar to you in that I need to be skinny to beat this thing and that may take some time. Hey ho

I don't think you need a fitbit as you are already using other devices to cover both diet and exercise. I only do walking but then I'm older (67) than you. I do think some of us will get better control with a much lower BMI.
Best wishes.

Thanks Hiitsme. Nice to hear you're doing so well

Fbg 8.5 at 10am. And the moral of that story is find the energy at 8am when you woke up to go downstairs and test

Fbg 8.9 at 9am. Decided to reduce my calorie intake further as I don't seem to be losing anymore weight on 800cals a day and that's frustrating. Gonna try for 700 a day for a week and see if that kicks my system into losing weight again

Probably explains why I'm losing so little weight

@Naomi425 can I refer you to this post from zand earlier in this thread.....

I am concerned that you are continuing on the very low calorie diet, despite evidence that this may not be the right choice for you. If it was going to work for you, I think you would have been seeing results by now. It must be so disheartening making all the effort you are without the rewards? Perhaps a change of plan is needed? Zand had the right idea.

I'm actually fine and I'm going to see this thing through for the 8 weeks whatever. I did lose a lot of weight in the first week and I'm nearly at normal BMI now so it'll be worth it just for that anyway even if my bgls don't get much better than they are now . I was already on a very low carb diet before this adventure and my bgls were higher than they are now . We are all different and I think I need to lose a lot more weight so I'll carry on steadily with this til the 8 weeks are up then back to Lchf then my holiday then I'll try for 600cals in late September for a month. Then I'll see where I am then and reassess( which may include the lovely world of metformin by that stage: hey ho)

Your choice.
Hope you stay well.

Not sure I'm disagreeing with you. Just since I've started this thing and I feel fine and its helps me lose weight more quickly than Lchf I think I should see it through

I am a hyper Apple shape . People give up seats for me on the tube coz they think I'm pregnant which means I must look nearly 9 months gone considering how inconsiderate us Londoners can be. So I think I need to get rid of my belly fat. Which is a long way from where I am now but I will get there

Stick with it.
There are some on here that prefer LCHF to any other diet, but it's certainly not everyone.
For the eight weeks, (some have done more), it's got to be worth seeing it through.

It's also excellent for changing your body shape, and driving down your BMI, as well as your BG as you suspect.
Unfortunately LCHF doesn't tend to have that result for some, it merely keeps BG is check.

Thanks Sunny . Nice to know I'm not going totally mad

Have you had a lot of stress in your life? Tummy fat can be caused by cortisol. If yours is stress related then over dieting and/or over exercising will be doing you more harm then good. I have learnt this to my cost. I have recently been told that I have adrenal fatigue. Adding more stress to my body through strict diets just made my tummy fatter. Doing low cal diets can feel so good because we are taking control, but we need to work with our bodies not against them.

Not really. I come from a nice stable middle class family. Done well with my career, lots of friends etc. I can't complain tbh and I'm a pretty calm person who can let things out when she needs to.The belly thing is genetic I think . My dad was like me. I haven't over dieted and for the first time in years I'm running so I don't think it's that. I'm trying to reverse 35 years of living the good life (nb I never ate junk I just loved good food and drink , lots of it and I could afford it as well). That plus my genes led to diabetes. I knew it was always a risk but felt I might get away with it. But I haven't so now I'm having to live life differently

Obviously my life hasn't been perfect. It's had its ups and downs but in comparison with many I think I've been lucjy

It is working a little bit. My daytime pre and post food bgls are all in the low 7s. The ketone test showed trace amounts of ketone . My guess is that 800 Cals isn't very low calorie for me now that I'm almost at normal BMI (see photo above) hence I'm losing weight slowly and bgls are going down slowly. I guess for a 'normal sized' woman I'm on the equivalent of a 1200 cal diet which also explains why I'm not feeling any dire effects from something that is meant to be very low calorie. Just a guess.

More evidence it's working a bit is my waist size has gone down an inch (my measurements) alongside my dress size going down from 14/16 to 12. Most of my trousers are now too big : was in a 14 now easily fit into a size 10. Sorry guys can't translate that into boy measurements. And I think I've gone down from 34E to 34D in bra size- bought a 34DD from tescos today and it's too big . Not telling BF about this reduction as he wont be happy
