@lucylocket61 My sister in law who had aggressive breast cancer a couple of years ago was on long term antibiotics to keep infection at bay, don’t know how long for though sorry x
Ps and tablet for my oral thrush, as it's still there, which may be adding to my eating issues.
Lucy your GP sounds amazing. Wish mine was that pro-active. I had longer term antibiotic use for 6 weeks in 2013 to keep infection under control and then at bay whilst I was awaiting surgery. I saw it as reassuring that they were trying to keep me in the best shape to get the surgery done on time. Sorry you are having such a rubbish time. Oral thrush is awful. Hopefully if they can get that under control then it will help you with trying to get sufficient calories in each day or even start to enjoy a bit of food. Thinking of you. XI have a water infection. I can't get the antibiotics until tomorrow morning. Apparently the tumour is likely to be suppressing my immune system. If I get another infection after this, he suggests a maintenance dose of antibiotics daily until I get treatment. Anyone know about this? He is going to ring urology to try to get my appointment moved forward, and I will ring the consultant secretary too. The doctor has also prescribed a selection of build up for me to try. I have blood tests tomorrow morning.
Oh yes, I use that too when I have throat infections and the doctor won't give me antibiotics.I always keep a bottle of Colloidal Silver in my medicine cabinet for emergencies
- A common antibactrial therapy prior to the discovery of antibiotics.
It can kill a lot of germs
and mouth fungus too.
you just gargle with it for oral thrush, better than tables maybe that have to go through
Your stomach.
The waiting must be very hard, but I'm glad you're at least feeling a little better.Update:
Thrush has gone, nausea has gone, taste buds are still a bit weird, my mouth is still a bit dry, but not like it was. I couldn't get an earlier appointment with the consultant as they said I need this time for my body to heal from the hospital treatment and other infections. It's only three weeks now until my appointment. I have my covid booster on the 9th January so, fingers crossed, I won't have any side effects from it. My cough has nearly gone.
I alternate between anxious and scared, or calm resignation, with a bit of denial creeping into the mix every so often. Christmas was very quiet. How was your Christmas and New year?Needs must for now. You can sort the blood glucose out a bit later once you’ve got a treatment plan and are feeling better, and so far it’s not too terrible. How are you doing in yourself? I hope you managed some nice moments over Christmas despite all that’s happening.
happy (ish) new year.I am having to have more carbs than I like, due to my eating issues and small appetite. However, my blood sugar levels only seem to have risen by 2 whole points on average. I am trying to let it happen and not get stressed due to the reality that having some nourishment is better than none. My appetite is very little, I am full after small amounts. I am living mainly off milk, bananas and plain biscuits. Thankfully I see the urologist on the 20th January. Lack of appetite is one of the symptoms.
All perfectly understandable. Christmas was quiet but pleasant for me and not too off track. My mum managed to come for dinner this year at last. Have to say with all the kids (plus an extra other half) and hubby around all the time as everyone had the whole period off work I’m ready for normality again now and I think they are tooI alternate between anxious and scared, or calm resignation, with a bit of denial creeping into the mix every so often. I think while you are still not able to eat that a quiet Christmas sounds ideal.I alternate between anxious and scared, or calm resignation, with a bit of denial creeping into the mix every so often. Christmas was very quiet. How was your Christmas and New year?
