ally1,s BS levels

Hi Ally.

Salad cream has quite a lot of carbs in it. Real mayonnaise is better, but look at the labels as some cheaper makes also have added sugar. Hellmans Real Mayo is carb free.

Oh yes Mayo must rule the day. Upping your fats ie butter cheese cream will help you lose weight Ally. That's the secret. Lower carbs and more fats = weight loss...I lost weight so quickly. Others say the same...bs readings will be so much better too? Do you think you could follow a low carb diet?

You can make home (French) salad dressing with combination of olive oil, lemon, crushed fresh garlic, mustard,. Garlic and or mustard optional. Vinegar or balsamic vinegar can be substituted for lemon juice.

i,m scared to eat for fat as scared off putting on weight and i have high cholestral

Ally, please don't be scared. As long as you are low carb, increased fats will not make you fat, and may even improve your cholesterol levels. It is only when high fats are combined with high carbs that you gain weight. Look at my own statistics on low carb/higher fat:

I have lost 4 stones, am at my target weight and still struggling a bit not to lose any more.
My cholesterol levels have all improved on each of the 6 tests I've had this year and are excellent.

I eat butter and use it to cook mushrooms etc. and put some on my veggies
I eat mounds and mounds of cheese
I eat full fat Greek yogurts
I eat real mayonnaise
I use double cream in my coffee
I use rapeseed oil for frying
I don't like olive oil or I would add that to my salads.

I am not alone with these statistics, and I am never hungry because fats fill you up.

Ally.. Fat definitely does not add body fat..

The young lady I know that is in a eating disorder unit for anorexia is having 80% of her eating as carbs.... I'd for breakfast she has to have 2 pieces of toast with marmalade or Nutella AND. A bowl of bran flakes. She has to have a flapjack or muffin 2 hours later, then 2 hours later she has to have a full carb laden pie with veg and a pudding such as treacle pudding and custard etc... Her whole day is eating as many carbs as possible with the smallest amount of fat (skimmed or semi skimmed milk). This carries on all day until she gains almost 4 stone to get back to a bmi of 20.

I have low carb all my life and when I added in more fat I lost 10lb unintentionally and ended up too thin as I am only a size 10 anyway.

Please, try it... Fat does not make you fat... It is the carbs that put on weight.... Fat feeds your brain and body with good nutrients... Carbs unless in veg feed you absolutely nothing...except extra weight.

If you are low carbing you must add in some fat to satiate any hunger and to satiate your internal organs and brain. Fat does not add fat to your body. My friend in hospital is proof that it is carbs that make you increase weight..

I can certainly understand why you would feel scared Ally - we have continually been told for 20-30 years that high levels of fats = high cholesterol = heart attacks.

I think that advice is starting to change now within the NHS. It's a very slow process though.

Only you know your family history and only you know exactly what you eat.

I decided on LCHF as it works for me. My weight loss was enough to reduce my cholesterol thankfully.

i will certainly eat more butter and cheese
about a year ago, i was told to reduce my cheese as the gp said its bad

But a year ago you were eating carbs, and look where it got you. Now you have drastically reduced your carbs. Give it a go ..... and ditch the salad cream!
