ally1,s BS levels

I had my first 3 month bloods taken today and seeing doc next week. Fingers crossed for us both!

donnellysdogs i,m not sure if cholestral is being tested, think its just to see how my levels have been over the last 3 months
i do have to take a urine sample with me
Hi ally, they will most likely to cholesterol too they always do at my surgery. I think you and the doctors are in for a nice surprise. As long as you don't go too mental during the Christmas period you should be fine. Perhaps save any big blowouts you have planned for the new year :) Either way you are doing amazingly well and should feel very proud of yourself.

Hi Ally whatever you're doing keep it up because you're doing well and have some good readings there

Ally
How are you going to manage christmas? Have you given any thought yet to managing when probably there will be extra carbs on offer?

donnellydogs, i am worried about christmmas food especially as i will be staying around a fortnight there

Oh crikey Ally.. Better take some sausage n eggs...
Eat as many chipolatas as you like but avoid too much xmas cale.

For every spud off your plate add a chipolata!!!

Are there chocs galore??

@ally1 - When dishing up, I'd be inclined to do meat first, then veg (ignoring potatoes), until my plate was almost covered, the if there's room and I thought my bloods could manage it, I'd add a potato to any plate I could see left. Doing that, I wouldn't feel I was missing out, as I'd have a plate full of food.

For puddings, if your Mum has a freezer, get lots of berries and cream in and graze through that. I think preparation is the key, so you don't find yourself with nothing to eat.

Does your Mum like to cook or bake?

i bit of a hike, i did have a dumpling

You're getting better with this ... and you know it :and just as importantly we see it ) The dumpling you also know was not a good choice. Keep working at it Ally1 :)

@ally1 Does your mum know you have diabetes? Does she know how you have struggled? Does she know carbs may make you ill enough to warrant a stay in hospital? I hope she does because then she won't be putting temptation in your way. Have you told her not to buy you any chocolates or sweets? We all know how difficult these situations can be, but there are ways round them with a bit of forward planning and careful shopping.

Take your meter with you, and show your mum what happens after you eat.

I'm having strawberries and cream for my dessert on Christmas Day. I will be the only one having this, but I will enjoy them because I won't be feeling guilty or worried. I will also be sticking to red wine ....... I know you like Stella, but remember what was said about beers on another thread. Spirits are fine with sugar free mixers. Also, nibbles and snacks ....... stick to low carb, nuts, cheese, celery.
