No, not at all! I was angry at your DH's HCP for saying that his cholesterol was too high (when in fact it sounds perfect). Complete ignorance from people who should know better.
paragliderpete said:Hi All. Had to register and post a reply. I've been type 2 for three years , and had exactly the same poor advice as everyone else. The test meter is the only method you have of monitoring your blood sugars. The only way i got my Doctor to see reason was when I had taken hundreds of tests and plotted the results in graphs. Following the NHS advice of High carb, low fat diet gives me spikes of over 15 and an hba1c of 8%. I have been on a low carb diet (below 60g carbs per day ) for over 12 months, my bm's are now all below 6.2mmol (over 800 tests), and last hba1c was 5%. I do not restrict protien or fat in my diet eating cheese, cream, fried food, meat etc. My cholesterol is now 2.8, with a ratio of 125% adl to hdl, and very low trigs.
It cost a lot of money for the test strips, over 2000 tests since starting, but its the only way I could manage my health without help. My Doctor is a convert, and has borrowed the book I use as a bible. The book is Diabetes solution by Dr Richrad Bernstein .
Had I took the NHS advice I would have had no control over my condition, and have serious complicatios by now.
Hope you find my story of help.

Wahey!RoyG said:Well it's better than accepting something that from all the evidence does not control diabetes, I wont go down winging that's for sure this is round one for me and the gloves are on, and if nothing else it's keeping me going to the last round. I will fight this insipid disease with every thing at my disposal. Ding, Ding.
Thinking about this diet one more positive thing I suffer from acid reflux had it for years, I read that, that goes with low carb diet, so I stopped the pills and I have not had it once since Sunday, normally it comes back within a day or two of me stopping the Tablets time will tell.RoyG said:Well it's better than accepting something that from all the evidence does not control diabetes, I wont go down winging that's for sure this is round one for me and the gloves are on, and if nothing else it's keeping me going to the last round.
