I have 2 rescue dogs called Ellie and Jones..
We've been to several Companion Shows this year..
May GSD Rally at Langford they won 'Best Rescue' (no best in show for novety classes)
June we went to the dog4adoption family day fun dog show, they came 1st 'Best Rescue' and won Best in Show..
We went to the Langport Companion show today and got
1st Best in Rescue (no best in show done at this one)
Why you may wonder what's special about my dogs?
Well a bit about my two..
Jones I adopted 21 months ago a German Shepherd/Corgi cross who was a part of prosection case of neglect.. He came to me at 14 months old, didn't know what play was, not only had he not any experience of the outside world all he knew was the company of other dogs. He had minus zero confidence and absolutley no training of any kind.. Urban life frightened him so did strangers the best way to discribe the little fella was he was agoraphobic! I've been on an amazing journey with training Jones and building up his confidence, he's still even now weary of strangers, and find some things difficult to cope with but slowly we are getting there..
Ellie I adopted through a breed specific small rescue called GSD 2000, we adopted her last year in May, throwing all caution and wisdom to the wind, as you DON'T ever match a puppy with a dog that has condifence issues... Let alone doing this with a German Shepherd puppy recipe for disaster..
Disaster it has not been far from it..
Not only are Ellie and Jones able to pick up Hypo's even if we are asleep but when my husband was caught short without his supply of Jelly Babies or mobile phone, they really kicked into action as his hypo deteriorated they guided him down the lanes in semi darkness towards home, getting him into a safer area, When Les couldn't go futher Ellie stayed at his side, while Jones found the courage to come the rest of the way home to raise the alert that Les needed help!
Les not only suffered a major life threating hypo, but also sustained hypothermia, if they hadn't done what they did it is likely that Les would have died from the combination..
I'm so proud of them
