As useful as a chocolate teapot.... this advice is often given out because the NHS doesn't want to provide T2's with a meter except in very rare circumstances. I'd heartily recommend getting one and starting to regularly measure before and 2 hours after meals to see how well your carb cutting is going. High readings are informative as to what not to eat and low readings are a huge motivator! No reading is ever "bad".The nurse told me NOT to get a BS monitor & this is where I have been so confused.
THat's exactly right.. we have to take control of our own health and you have just landed at exactly the right place to do just that.one of millions of other people with this condition & I know when I leave the surgery I am forgotten & on to the next one - I know this is down to me to manage this & not get complications.
I didn’t count fat or protein macros, I just cut carbs to trace amounts. I ate lots of smoked salmon, avocados, eggs, nuts, cheese etc. IMHO, just focus on healthy whole foods. My cholesterol numbers actually got slightly better. I’d focus on getting your BG levels normal first, then retest your cholesterolHi
I have been recently diagnosed with T2 & high cholesterol have used my fitness pal app for years to track my calories, what do you suggest the % split between carbs, fats & protein should be for me ?
I am very confused I want to go low carb but that means higher fat % & I have high cholesterol so I have to be aware of that .. although I will choose good fats.
And then how much protein???!
Please help I am all over the place
I am talking total % split each day or maybe it should be each meal of the 3 macros not calories.
