Hello,
I wondered if there is much benefit of being on metformin if already on basal/bolus insulin.
When initially diagnosed as diabetic I was put on metformin which was OK but shortly after I started to get there usual bad side effects of stomach problems etc.
Since then I was put on basal insulin and now I am on basal and bolus insulin. When I went on the bolus insulin I took myself off the metformin as I couldn’t deal with feeling sick anymore!
As my levels have been quite bad the past few days I decided to go very low carb and try the metformin again.
My levels have been good (unsure if due to the low carb or metformin) but I have had a very upset belly and constantly feeling sick. I assume this is the metformin.
I’m not sure how much longer I can cope with the side effects so I wondered if taking the metformin can have that many benefits for blood glucose if you are already on basal and bolus insulin.
Thanks
