Best fruits?

I find blueberries spike me far more than strawberries or raspberries. Blackberries are fine too. Add a few to a full fat yogurt, or double cream. It is always wise to eat fruit as part of a meal rather than a stand-alone snack.

What are the best low sugar fruits whilst on a low carb diet?
I've just had a strawberry, 4 raspberries and 4 blackberries (ie 20g of each) with double cream (50g) as a treat. It was delicious and less than 5g carbs, so I'm still inside my 20g carbs/day. Often, you don't need a great amount, but really savour and enjoy your food.

Yes, stick to berries and you can't go wrong, but add cream or add them to a full fat yogurt and eat them as part of a meal, not as a stand alone snack.

I will occasionally have a kiwi, with double cream, and it seems to only 'blip' my glucose level. So, for me, kiwi seems to have little difference from 6 raspberries with cream. I'm not complaining ;)

On internet it generally states around 14 carbs per 100g for blueberries.

Tesco I think have labelled their frizen blueberries wrong at 9.1 per 100g.

I read from packet and went high constantly with some smoothies.. realised when I checked internet what the possible cause could be. I add in 300g of blueberries to our 6 tall glass smoothies and they are not spiking with the new calculation from internet.

Even small amounts of berries or melon spikes me. I think you need to try it and let your meter decide what works for you.

The Carbs and Cals book has them at 13.75g per 100g. They spike me far more than other berries.

I think I shall write to Tesco!!

Melon spikes me horrendous. Love melon as it is one fruit I can eat that goes through stomach without blending. Off my list though.

Hi Donnellysdogs
I love melon too and I'm able to eat a little melon when I lace it with double cream! It will 'blip' rather than spike my glucose levels. Although melon is usually eaten as a starter, or just on it's own, I've discovered I loved it as a dessert, especially with kiwi fruit. I like the contrasting tastes. Nowadays, I eat a much smaller quantity and not too often :(

I used to eat it with full fat yogurt. Can eat the yogurt (boring) by itself absolutely fine.
As I only eat a tea plate of mush and a smoothie each day I have found its easier just to avoid it.
When I make smoothies they have good fat, a lot more nutrients like spinach that give me an all round nutrient content with about the same carb value then I have to opt for the smoothies where I can change tastes a little bit.
Last gear though when we went out for hubbies 50th (I avoid eating out) the restaurant were brilliant with melon for starters, soup for mains and sorbet for pud!! It enabled me to go out and enjoy. They weere also brilliant for not putting bread with soup as they had with friends for their starters. They also made my main a different variety and more, just enabling me to feel normal for a night...
