Blood Sugar in High 20's and GP not helping, please advise

Not good Clive, light-headed, hungry, can't fnd enough food that I can eat, feel weak. Just had enough.
Hmmm sorry to hear this scottie, have you looked at the " what have you eaten today" section, i had scrambled egg on wholemeal crackers and a pancake made with chickpea and almond flour ,lunch is sardines and avocado pear,
Dinner is going to be cauliflower cheese.
I know it doesn't help but how u feel at the mo' is how i felt when 1 st starting lchf,

Sorry you are back to feeling de-motivated again. You seemed to be so upbeat about it all before.

This is what I've had today:
Full fat Greek yogurt with some fresh raspberries and flaxseed and a mug of tea.
Another mug of tea.
Homemade French onion soup - big bowl full with loads more onions than the tinned stuff, with flaxseed added after heating.
Some Red Leicester cheese.
Decaf coffee with 2 tablespoons of double cream
Tea will be our usual Tuesday tea - chip shop battered fish and peas, half a slice of Hovis Seed Sensations bread and butter
Glass of red wine
Decaf coffee and cream as before.
Loads of water throughout.

About 54g carbs.

It's not so much feeling de-motivated, it's just a general 'fed-up ness'. I bought lots of things to eat, but seem to have nothing. Also, my BG doesn't appear to be improving despite my best efforts

Today I have had 3 x crispbreads with butter and ham,
And a kipper which I didn't like but ate anyway as it's good for me.

My BG 2 hours after eating is 16.1. I thought I'd have seen a big reduction as I'm trying so hard but it seems not.

I'm also tired, can't seem to sleep though not sure why. Just generally feeling rubbish. sorry, shouldn't vent on here.

I'm going to buy some Hovis Seed Sensations when I do my shopping. It sounds quite nice.

Do you have the receipe for French Onion soup as I love that?

I think I have had appprox. 19g carbs today

Your high levels are causing all
these feelings Scottie. You are much lower than previously when first posting...

Your brain and organs are overloaded with excess glucose and personally just from odd occasions I know how you feel.

Please keep eating lower carb.. You're levels without doing this would be seiously, seriously bad....x

Thanks Donnelly, that's helpful to know why I'm feeling like this. It's amazing the effect it can have on you, isn't it?

Yes, I suppose I am a lot lower than when I first posted, just eager to reach normal levels quickly.

Hi Scottie,
If you do buy the seeded loaf, do check the carbs per slice before eating.
You said you like salad, this may be a silly question, but if your having a salad, what do you put on your plate?

As I see it, your body clinging hard to the higher levels where it has been "comfortable" operating for some time. In resisting change, your body will throw out these cravings and feelings to encourage you to boost your levels back up. Sadly, this isn't what you need right now.

So, I'd encourage you to try to get your head around the fact that actually feeling rough as you do is a good thing. It's almost like a drug addict fogging through de-tox. It feels like hell, but by jingo, there no way to bypass it.

Eat regularly, and even if it means a bit of repetition, concentrate, initially on the low carb things you have already found you enjoy eating. Knowing you can eat is important. As some of the carb craving and feeling quite so rough passes, you can be trying other, more adventurous foods.

So many people start by saying, "but I have nothing left I like to eat", and within a short while are gladly stating, "I have so much delicious food to eat, I can't be bothered to think too much about carbs any more."

You never know, somebody might even admit to themselves being that person.............

French onion soup - enough for 3 large portions. Spare portions can be frozen.
500g of mixed red and white onions, sliced. Some garlic. Some thyme if you wish.
Heat a large pan with a knob of butter and tablespoon of olive oil.
Add the onions and garlic and toss well
Cook uncovered on gentle heat for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally
Make up about 850ml beef stock with a stock cube and water
Add the stock to the pan and cook for another 15 minutes.

Hi Scottie 1, It wont all happen at once but having less carbs will help. When you mention the Kipper & not liking it, have you tried the vacuum packed mackerel? Tesco's do them Plain, or peppered or piri piri a pack for 3 or 4 fillets approx £2.50. I have 1 a day at lunch times on 2 ryvita spread with Philadelphia full fat for the first 3/4 days of the weeks with fresh olives plum tomatoes sm an a little salad cream. I have them warm 1 minute in the micro. I find them very nice.

The hovis seed sensations there are 2 different one's, one has a green leaf on it which is the one you want, check out the carbs on them as one has much higher carbs.

I think the service from your doctors is appalling I agree that you should take yourself off to the A&E you have to get those numbers down.

Stick at it, this forum is where you need to be and to get the support you need, don't lose faith now it will get better.

Neil
