Blood sugar levels getting to low

So my levels are absolutely more controlled now but I'm worried they're getting to low before breakfast when I woke up it was 4.3 which is fine but then before lunch they were down to 3.1 and the last few days they've been constantly in the 3 range. I've tried calling the diabetic centre but keep getting voice mail and they don't phone back.

Looking at your previous posts it seems you're on Gliclazide?

That can cause lows, I believe. Have you changed your diet at all?

Have you received any more information about what type of diabetes you have? If you do have Type 1, early introduction of insulin can help preserve your remaining beta cells for longer.

No I've heard absolutely nothing from them. The only reason I got an appointment with a dietician is because I phoned up myself

Sadly, that's not uncommon. Many people here have had to push for tests and information.

Have you seen a consultant yet?

Haven't seen anyone since the first time where they gave me the tablets

Insist you're referred to a diabetes specialist. If your doctor doesn't know what type you are, you need expert input. Far too many adult onset Type 1s are assumed to be Type 2s.

I'm not in any way a medical person, but from what you've said here previously, I think it's possible you could be Type 1/LADA so that possibility should be properly explored.

As for your current lows, look at what you're eating on the days/times you go low. You may need to adjust that, so experiment a little, and see what works.

But I do urge you to get a specialist appointment so you know what you're dealing with and get the correct treatmemt.

If you are having problems with the drugs you are taking making your BG levels go low then you really should be seeing a doctor and discussing the reduction in the drugs.
You should be being monitored and have blood tests every 3 months at first - to check for exactly what you are experiencing, and stopping it.
I have naughtily stopped taking my medication because I felt that life was not worth living with all the side effects - my doctor did not even want to talk to me about my blood test results. OK - I can live with that very happily - but your drugs are doing far more for your BG levels than the Metformin and statin I was on.

Can't emphasis you get to talk to someone as urgently as possible because you are experiencing low blood glucose levels and taking meds that brings down blood glucose levels. (Glicizide) If you read the information that comes with the meds, it tells you why you have been given these meds and the side effects.
If necessary phone the helpline or go to out of hours.
Under the current system you are unlikely to get an appointment with your GP anytime soon.

Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes.
