Bullet proof coffee

I'm with you on this @alliebee . I've been making this for the past week, but have tweaked the butter and coconut oil quantities by reducing them to a teaspoon of each in the last couple of days. This morning I've lost the 3lbs I gained last week, and yesterday tackled some major tasks that I'd been putting off, including 2 years of paperwork I'd been ignoring since moving house.

I've not even had this morning's coffee hit yet, but I'm already raring to finish yesterday's tasks!

I wouldn't necessarily think your gain is a true gain, quite probably more a fluctuation, based on all the usual factors impacting - hydration, etc. It's interesting to re-acquaint oneself with those fluctuations after a sustained period of downward trends.

Yes I agree I'm sort of fluctuating with the same 1 to 3 pounds now. Learning to maintain without fluctuating my bs what is working is keeping carbs to approx 45.g. a day and slighly bigger portions. Think the coffee will help too one of my dr mates is thrilled with the coffee and is amazed he has lost five pounds!...

Im tempted to try it even though I've never found a coffee I like.

aaah that takes me back...

i hated coffee. thought it ws a waste of space. horrible.
then once, when in Greece with friends, they were rhapsodising about the amazing coffee in this wee little taverna.
So I tried it.
They called it a cappuccino, but no cappuccino I have ever tried before or since was sweet greek coffee at the bottom topped with two inches of exquisite, solid, whipped cream.
It was a peak experience, and one that I have never been able to repeat.

But I try, oh how I try. and although I have had bad coffee since then, I have never had a coffee that hasn't reminded me, just a little, of that divine little greek cup.

Ok gonna show my coffe ignorance here. If i get some coffee beans, can i grind them in my coffee grinder (i use it for my flaxseed) and then just pour on hot water and hey presto coffee? Then obviously butter and coconut oil?

I use a cafetière then pour it into a large jug and add the butter, coconut oil and a splash of double cream, and blend until it is frothy. The blending is important.

I'm sure there are plenty of other variations, but this works for me.

your method will work. you can even use a teapot if you like! but you will have to strain the brew, just like loose tea leaves, or you will end up with floating bits of ground coffee. oh, and leave it to brew for 2-5 mins before you strain.

I plucked up courage and made some. Delicious! Yeo Valley organic butter is made just up the road so I always use it anyway.
This will be a breakfast regular for me I'm sure. Will just test in an hour or so ...

Thanks so much for this receipe and the recommendation. Definitely going to try this one!

Try it with kenco decaf.
Sometimes I have a bulletproof coffe with instant coffee. It isn't so good, but still ok. The main / important thing I have found is the mixing. It needs a good mix until you have a froth on top. I have a battery mixer (floppy wire whisk, about £3.00 each) and this does it.... 30g coconut oil plus 30g butter in a cup, Half fill with coffee then wisk, then top up.

Having to give up the coffee for the meantime. Sadly. Wondering if the flare up with my ms is caused by industrial amounts of coffee...will knock it on the head for a week and see if it makes a difference. Then maybe try again...( sobs in corner.. my coffee. My precious! ).......
