Hi

I was wondering if the regular burgen bread soya and linseed 800g loaf is the one everyone talks about on here ? I've just had 1 slice to test it as couldn't make it to lidl. Made toast with lots of soft chive goat cheese

If I can't get Bergen, it's a trip to lidl for their gorgeous protein rolls!

You can only go by how it affects you - I have a lidl nearby and get their Protein rolls as one at lunchtime barely registered on the meter - and I tested several times on different days just to check - the last one did not register at all!!
It is great that there are these products to buy - but if a supermarket is beginning to cater to diabetics - just how many are there now and how many are predicted in future?

Well seems I can't tolerate the 1 slice with top crust cut off in the morning so it's a timing issue I think as my fasting glucose is 7.6 or 7.8

The original Vogel Soya and Linseed bread is better and is available in Tesco and Waitrose. I used to eat copious amounts with Meridian peanut butter as soon as I brought it home. Oh ..... paradise!

This does not make sense. What were you fasting, what were you pre food and what were you two hours after? That is how you test if certain foods cause problems.

I was 7.6 fasting then had breakfast and 2 hours later was 9.2 or something

I would try again and test just before you eat as blood sugar levels can jump up when starting your day.

You are right you could try at different times of the day as some people are more resistant in the morning or put the bread in the freezer until your fasting levels come down. It is still early days.

Is that from 1 slice of Burgen(11g carbs) bread with cheese or other things?
Burgen bread will raise blood glucose quicker than Lidl rolls, due to using whiteflour not wholemeal.

If you are able, you can really help your insulin work better and burn off the excess glucose via exercise like a quick walk for 15-20 minutes 1 hour after eating. If fasting is already high, why not try before breakfast exercise?
Thanks I may try that then it's just hard to get about with my chronic fatigue syndrome situation

The trouble is that the bread is at its best when fresh and the packet for one is too large!
