On the internet some people say that they had this or that but state that they have been cured by doing a years course of yoga and mindfulness.
You may even hear about the miracle stories, how people may have a health issue and suddenly be alright.
Yoga is good for the body in terms of relaxing, reducing stress but do you think that these practical solutions like mindfulness and yoga are the solutions to ending diabetics???

No.
Don't believe everything you read on the Internet, it is full of charlatans. The trick is to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Wow! That sounds one heck of a stretch.

Just thinking about Type 1, an autoimmune disease in which the body decides it no longer likes the cells that produce insulin, I cannot see a way that yoga, mindfullness or reduced stress will allow the body to start creating and not killing these cells.
High stress increases BG so reducing stress helps to reduce BG. But that is not the same as curing diabetes.

That does not mean I do not believe in any value from yoga, etc. I once had a yoga teacher who had experienced a serious car accident. Whilst he was in hospital (for a number of weeks), he would imagine himself going through one of his yoga routines every day. Apparently, his recovery was much faster than the doctors expected. I would not be surprised if his yoga techniques of relaxation and controlled breathing aiding his healing.

I have type 2 and anxiety disorder. Stretching, breathing techniques and visualization techniques help to reduce my anxiety. When I am anxious my blood sugars go up. Relaxation brings them back down. So I would say Yoga etc would help, but not cure.

I have been doing yoga for 6 years. 3 times a week. I was diagnosed with type2 only last year. So I would say no, it won’t cure diabetes. But it’s great for flexibility and relaxation. X

I would say no but yes yoga may help with anxiety

This reminds me of Steve Jobs' valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer (albeit a rather unusual variant of it). Eventually, after holding it off and possibly prolonging his life with various new-age techniques, he had the Whipple Procedure that is the standard surgery (for those who can still benefit from it).

I don't rule out "mindfulness" techniques as a therapy for diabetes, but in the absence of controlled studies (and it is very unlikely that these would be done) I wouldn't be ready to put any trust in it for myself or anyone I cared about!
