I was told by the nurse I that I'm testing too much!!.
I test b4 a & 2hrs after meals & bedtime. So I know if what I've eat has been dealt with by the body.
She claims I only need to test morning &.b4 bed, what on earth is that going to tell me?
 
yup, i believe it, in fact your quite lucky, many suggest testing is a complete waste of time :banghead:
 
My doc first called me and asked me to check my bg regularly and then when i told her that she told me off :mad:
 
Hi Paul. Was the nurse trying to limit your strips?
Hope you advised her that only testing at that time would not be accurate and have many disadvantages especially if you have dawn phenomenon or hypos!
 
Are these prescribed strips or your own?
 
Ignore her. 4 doctors have told me I am cured and they cant understand how my HbA1c came down so quickly, then gave me a row for testing.

Yes she was trying to limit strips, so I will buy some of my own as well as prescribed, but that will be after I've had a word with the doc.
No never said that to her but will be if she does it again.
 
I had a similar problem with a so-called diabetic nurse at my GP's practice. When I explained that the hospital (following my DKA) had put me on a basal/bolus regimen and I needed to do multiple daily tests in order to manage my BG as tightly as possible, she looked at me with disdain and I swear she hadn't a clue what I was talking about.

If you drive they cannot refuse to supply your strips or they will fall foul of the DVLA rules, just tell them you drive.
 
DVLA rules state that you must test before driving and every two hours whilst behind the wheel, even if you are only on diet control or tablets as you can still have a hypo.

Sorry no link, when I was first dx'd Dr told me to ring DVLA and tell them I was newly dx'd an diet only, so I did and the lady there said they wouldn't need to have my licence back at that time till I started on insulin but to follow the driving rules which are to test before starting off and every two hours behind the wheel to rule out chances of hypo's, and that's the rules I have followed since, because even if you are just diet controlled there is always the chance of running a low bs level.

Ok I think it is because you are on Insulin.
Diet only is unlikely to hypo. Unless you have Gnosher syndrome.
