Dear all,
Since a few weeks before my last blood tests I lowered my carbs and upped my fats. I enjoy this way of eating, pouring obscene amounts of olive oil on my salads at work. Now I wonder whether this is sustainable, as I am exercising a lot as well, and have problems with regular periods. So, in the internet-sphere I learned about upping one's carbs, say, every few days, just enough to fill up the stores and kick oneself out of ketosis (e.g. an extra 50 g carbs for dinner).
Does anyone have experiences with this, or know a bit more about this? Reading more scientific sources, I read that it is unnecessary, or a note on the side that some (quite some) female participants in ketogenic diet studies ended up getting irregular or absent periods.
