Thankyou for your reply.I am going to try a splint until I can get a drs appointmemt.I had carpal tunnel badly in my left hand some years ago ending in surgery which fixed it. Carpal tunnel makes the thumb, index finger, middle finger and one side of the ring finger numb. I still have it very mildly in my right hand, but not bad enough to need surgery. Have you consulted a dr?
Thankyou.Congratulations on your Anniversary and the new arrival.xI had it in my right hand and had the surgery, I would recommend it.
Thankyou. What symptoms did you have?If you have the money for a physio they should also be able to diagnose it or tell you if it's something else. (There are plenty of things it could be). Speaking as someone who's suspected carpal tunnel syndrome in the past and had tests....
The first time, when they did nerve conduction tests, it was wrist pain and tingling fingers (I think, don't remember clearly).Thankyou.What symptoms did you have?
Are you okay now?The first time, when they did nerve conduction tests, it was wrist pain and tingling fingers (I think, don't remember clearly).
The second time (wrist pain and trouble closing hand) physio was sure it wasn't carpal tunnel and gave me exercises. I had a period when I couldn't hold a steering wheel with my right hand without discomfort.
Fine now, still get trouble with right hand if I overdo the weeding or mouse clicks on my computer ..... But I'm a big fan of physio as a first line of treatment for all sorts of things...Are you okay now?
Good idea. I wore a splint for a couple of weeks on (strangely)Thankyou for your reply.I am going to try a splint until I can get a drs appointmemt.
Thankyou for your reply.I have a splint coming tomorrow so will see if it helps.I had hand and lower arm pain that proved to be usage related. I changed computer mouse for a vertical hold one, and tried cutting down use.
Massage, splints and arm band that pressed on tendon all helped.
Agree that seeing a physio is the way to go
Ps I also had carpal tunnel 30 years ago while pregnant. Relived a little by hanging hand out of bed at night and splinting in the day. Luckily went once pregnancy over.
I dont use a computer but I do go on my phone quite a bit.I'm glad its the right hand because I'd be useless without my left hand.Good idea. I wore a splint for a couple of weeks on (strangely)
my non-dominant left hand due to carpal tunnel syndrome. It
went away—never to return. Thankfully.
BTW, long usage of a mouse is a common precursor for this. I use
a gel pad under my wrist to ensure the long axis of my forearm is
parallel with the desk top.
