My brother got the fidelity. A red one with a white lid. Had it till he was eighteen. 7 years and one needle change! I was never allowed to use it!;):oops:

One of my best adult presents is a Philips gogear MP3 player which I've had for about 6-7 years. Because I work on my lonesome for long periods it gives me my music in a very small box. It holds around 1800 songs. So no repeats on shuffle. It's brill! I have now got spotify on my iPhone and that is unbelievable! Songs on motown and such that have been released that were only issued in the states etc. it's called the complete motown singles collection.
Never heard of some records!

My best remembered childhood present was my Dansette record player, which held 8 records at once. It was blue and cream. My dad got a job lot of 75's to go with it. One was Poison Ivy and one was Johnny Ray singing "When is your birthday, baby?" LOL. I went out and bought Helen Shapiro's Walking Back to Happiness. I was 12 I think.

Every year as a younger child I got a new board game, which was fab because we played with it all holiday. In fact I still have my original Cluedo and Monopoly.

After dolls, dolls houses, dolls cots what my father made during the war,I longed for a bike, all my friends had them.
I did get one and was so disapointed ,It wasnt new,it was black and heavy, and sit up and bag type.
There was no sweets or fruit, there was some dried fruit,my grandma used to put threepenny bits in the Christmas pudding.
Im showing my age now.

I got a bike for passing my 11+ I wanted a sporty Pink Witch but got a Raleigh.

We must have been posh ... my mum always put sixpences in our Christmas puds. ;)

I think I must have been about four and I had a doll about 24" high and a Silver Cross dolls pram and Dad had made a crib for the doll. I think the pram ended up being used by dad as a wheelbarrow when I'd outgrown playing with it. I often think about what it might have been worth now if I still had it.

Rose scented soap & talc from an elderly relative - always said thank you with a smile but really don't like the smell.
Mom saying I'll go and check if Father Christmas has been and taking ages whilst she made a cup of tea!
Didn't you get the pink coloured bath crystals to go with the talc. Not sure what they were made of but they never dissolved properly and it was like sitting on sharp pebbles. We didn't have a bathroom so it was the tin bath in front of the fire in the kitchen. :)

The modern world , how did we cope without , what a lovely present to,receive ...your music sounds nice x

Being a lad it has to be a bike I got when I was 5 years old, my dad got it second-hand and repainted it and put new tyres and brakes on it, still remember to this day how excited I was when I came down the stairs and seen it for the first time.

Gosh yes those board games ...I used to have a set of games that were made out of cardboard , draughts , snakes and ladders etc....had forgotten about those ..we were poor no,sixpence in our pudding ..I think we had to make our own crackers to , I do remember smiths crackers ....we all wore our hats ...

I still have a few tree decorations from when I was a child in the early 50's. One is a home made felt black dog with a red coat on. We had a black lab cross at the time, so my little decoration is called Laddie after him. There is also an opaque (thick glass of some sort) bauble with a brass screw top that was one of the fairy lights. Another is a plastic "Kelly from the Isle of Man" as I called it. No idea why. He's a brightly coloured plastic head wearing a hat. They all get pride of place on my tree, hung with a little tear each year as memories flood back.

How lovely , a bike must be the winning present so far , that feeling of being so excited was so magical x
