Contradictions.

Hi All,
Since being diagnosed a few years ago I have changed so many aspects of my life.
I eat more healthily, exercise more, drink less, etc, etc.
My T2D is reasonably well managed.
I’m always looking for new things to try though. I actually enjoy reading the research, listening to Podcasts, reading books on the subject and so on.
What I find frustrating and very confusing is the seemingly endless conflicting advice.
Don’t eat fruit, it’s got too much sugar. Fruits ok, the fibre reduces your spike and it’s full of good stuff.
Don’t eat carbs. Whole grains are ok because again, the fibre regulates your BG response.
Avoid bread. But, Good quality bread with a high fibre to carb ration is ok in moderation.
Apple cider vinegar will alleviate BG response. Is there research to support this.
Does eating vegetables before carbs actually make a difference?
Dates, prunes, apples, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and numerous other foods are best avoided in one article and encouraged in moderation in another.
Has anyone else encountered these contradictions and if so have they waded through to find clarity?
Thank you.

@Nicksellick I am currently reading a book describing the ways in which intelligent people tried every which way to make the geology they could see and even stand on somehow match the description of the creation of the world in Genesis. In some ways it is amusing and in others heart breaking.
It might be part of the human condition to struggle to not only justify but sincerely express a belief.

There are individual responses to different foods, it is true, so a bit of experimentation is advisable, but my own experience is that high carb foods engender high blood glucose levels, and testing after meals revealed that my tolerance of carbs is quite low, but as I am now approaching 10 years from diagnosis and have followed a low carb way of eating, I really do suspect that I would not feel as well as I do if I were to eat any other way.

I run it all through my bullshine filter, and use logic to navigate the contradictions. If it contains carbs, it's a carb. If it contains sugsrs, it's a sugar. If it doesn't contain either, I can eat or drink it. After that, it'a a matter of degree. Howmany carbs, how much sugar. What does my blood test say? What knowledge does the source of the information possess, and is there a vested interest?

Well I would not touch high carbs with a barge pole. "Apple cider vinegar will alleviate BG response. Is there research to support this", well not a scientific example, but it does work for me ;) just not at the moment as I am poorley :banghead:
