Pleasure.. I read through it and although I'm not sure I have experienced all those things I'm pretty sure I would agree with your sentiments If I had.I think I've got full house now, thanks to an 'agree' from @bulkbiker! That works for me on so many levelsThanks BB!
Where is the shocked and stunned emoji.?. she sounds like a right charmer...@AdamJames Sorry, to get a full house you need a sister/brother like mine although I am not sure she is on the list!
I am a T2 who always watched my weight, not by the scales but by refusing to buy bigger jeans. However, I agree to all the other sins. Too little sleep, poor (well abysmal) diet, stressful job etc. When I was diagnosed and the dietary advice didn't work I got on here and started low carbing. When I next went out to (pub) lunch with my sister and couldn't eat anything on the menu she said "I know loads of diabetics and they don't make the fuss you do. Why don't you just eat whet you want and die sooner".
Some type2s cannot reverse their diabetes but now all type1s think we can!
Hi. You sound very much like a mis-diagnosed T1 and not T2 at all? Did you ever have any tests for T1?As I lie down to relieve my back pain after seeing my great GP and his practice staff and not before taking home a treat for the kids who didn't want me going out in the rain this morning. I read a few posts on the forum.
A forum where people come for support and none judgemental hugs and rational comments.
Home. Home to the diabetic family who are outcasts in small minded people's hearts.
The shock is the upset was caused by one of our own sufferers. Who should know better? Or should they?
Its pretty shocking how type1s normally get their diagnosis. Normally after dka.
Its very very fast paced and a very dangerous time of their life.
You can never compare a type1 diagnosis to a type2 diagnosis. And that's just the start of the shock.
Be honest... If type2s can be cured by not eating rubbish (carbs) then most type1s would jump at the chance.
So of course they think type2s are lazy, why does it take them so long when a type1 would love not to take insulin ever again? They'd jump through that hoop eleven fold.
I cannot cure my type2 like everyone claims is just diet control stopping it.
If type2s assume fellow type2s are just being lazy then neither wonder some type1s do too.
Some type2s cannot reverse their diabetes but now all type1s think we can!
Sometimes our own critics tells others that it's self induced.
Many haven't self harmed themselves into type2.
I think the more psychologist get involved the better. To support poor eaters who have emotions attached to food. The minority once carb cravings are controlled and understood.
More is to be revealed about type2 as how did I get it at 6yr old when it apparently takes years of bad eating?
No diabetics in my family tree. Heart failure at a young age, yes; but not diabetes. Unless it was hidden?
Diagnosis is severe case of insulin resistance. I take 300units of insulin per day. Enough to kill a horse, never mind a woman. Luckily with triple strength basal the a&e nurses don't worry about my doses so much.Hi. You sound very much like a mis-diagnosed T1 and not T2 at all? Did you ever have any tests for T1?
@AdamJames I agree with @phdiabetic. I once enjoyed salad once I got used to it's variations and added radishes and beetroot etc. However mine ended up very carb filled and I started overeating on that.I like seeing all the smileys on your post. I have contributed an "optimistic" because I like the rainbow and I don't get to use it much.
I am sorry that somebody made you feel bad about not eating a salad, as a person who really really likes salad I promise we are not all pretending to like it just to be healthy! I like the taste and am not eating it to spite everybody else

Any carbs for me nurtured carb cravings, even on salad or veg. I have to limit both enjoyments to not overeat.
Ive always preferred milky coffee to espresso. I'm a latte girl. Skinny or otherwise.
Its all in the carb content.... in everything.
Maybe in yrs to come type2s will have more pre- prepared low carb foods available and not at a rip-off price, neither?
I'd like to see frozen leek sheeted beef lasagne or any prepared food. More low carb ice cream and more low carb filling salad bowls.
I'm hoping our children's future is lower carb!
I was given too many fresh tomatoes as we grew them. I'm soooooo sick of fresh tomatoes. I think I'm off them, for life. I prefer beetroot but not very carb friendly either.I would love to try that lasagne, I really like pasta but don't eat it much since I only get small portions and end up being hungry later. Would love to try leek+beef lasagne!!
I always ate salad, even before I was diabetic I would take a small bag of cherry tomatoes or cucumber slices to school for a snack. These days my usual salad is cucumber+shallots, with a tomato or two thrown in and occasionally carrot.

Only salad I like at mo is ice burger lettuce. I use it as wrap replacements or for cheesy dips, for a treat. I'm trying to avoid cheese. I only like red Leicester, at mo thou. Anything nutty is to my liking.
Hi again. Thanks for your reply. You're obviously struggling to get the right balance but by low-carbing where you can you are doing the right thing food wise. My wife struggles to keep weight down compared with me as her metabolism is much lower than mine. If we eat the same food on holiday (not low-carb) she gains weight twice as fast as me. She has to almost starve herself together with low-carb to maintain a good weight; very frustrating for her. I claim she absorbs nutrients from the air!@Daibell I havent had a C-peptide result confirmed but obesity is where my specialist is concentrating on. Even if I'm a type1 I'm still hugely obese and severely insulin resistant so bariatric surgery is still a solution.
Before being given discharged in the future I won't be going without a GAD result or C-peptide result.
Thank you for helping me get the right diagnosis.
In my favour I have never had dka nor close to one so hospital haven't concerned themselves.
Ive eaten a high protein diet all my life, rather than a high carb one.
Before low carbing I was more muscle than fat but now I'm looking 50/50.
My weight loss came from muscle as I haven't been able to exercise.
I still produce more fat than I can burn. Low carb has to come with low fat for me to lose weight and still doesn't resolve immobility.
GP has referred me for mobility investigation. Appointment on the 24th of this month. It cannot come soon enough.
GP, I think, feels insulin therapy hasn't helped with weight loss and he's right but my alternative was to rot. Which he wouldn't allow that to happen. His referral to my endo has saved my life and my extremities.
Better fat and alive than not fat and dead. A decision which is only temporary.
Not fat and on low carb with supplements and far less insulin is my aim.
I won't be distracted from that.
Bariatric surgery without low carb education is the biggest flaw of the nhs but I'm going to prove even HUGELY longterm IR sufferers CAN immensely improve their status.
How can I lose?
Mobility will be the icing on the low carb cake!
