I am self-funding for the Dexcom One Plus. I have had some issues - 3 sensors failed, but they were replaced very quickly after I filled in the form on the website to report an issue each time - next day delivery. I just had a phone call to check what had happened. The first time they sent packaging and a label to send the faulty sensor back, but did not need me to do that the next couple of times. No sensors failing for a while now - I think it must have been a bad batch.
I am on the subscription and have cancelled it once early this year becauce I wasn't using them and lost my way. Cancelling was very easy with no issues. I subscribed again this summer and since then no problems at all apart from the failed sensors, and very happy with the customer service. I am now on the 3 month subscription as it is less expensive.
I would also say that I have found the sensors absolutely crucial to getting back on track, and the Clarity website online has been really good for looking at trends and seeing my progress. I use the receiver to get the data from the sensor as my mobile phone is not compatible.
Using the sensors in conjunction with a very low carb/keto lifestyle, exercise and tracking carbs/calories/exercise through a weightloss site I have used for years, plus Rybelsus (semaglutide) prescribed for my Type 2 diabetes has been a game changer. The sensor gives me data to keep me accountable and helps me make the right food choices/times of eating for me and as a result my BG has come down a lot - weekly average on the sensor was 19.1mmol/L in early August, and is now 6.5mmol/L this week.
I was also able to use the data collected to get my GP practice to prescribe the Rybelsus after I was on it for the Ascend Plus trial and ended up on the placebo. My data clearly showed the difference the drug made to my BG.
I spent a long time pretending that the diabetes wasn't happening, and using the sensor has really helped me accept it and make positive changes. It is just a shame that it has to be self-funded, but I am sure that the lower food costs and lack of junk foods spending have made up for it.
