Hi Hana,
I know your overweight but I've always said that many people are that way not because of their lifestyle it is often down to their genetic make up.In my family none of us has a weight problem, pre diagnosis I could eat as much as I wanted when I wanted, my weight was never a problem, even now my diet is high in dairy fats, butter, full fat milk, fresh cream etc. which would be an absolute no no to you.The medical proffession dont take genetics into consideration, if your overweight its your lifestyle thats to blame, seems to be their only answer, after diagnosis I was put on the standard diabetic diet which was totally unsuitable for me. I was losing weight and at one stage was down to 10st 7lb I felt awful had no energy and tired all the time.If I had'nt asked for a referal to a dietitian I think I would have wasted away. Thanks to the lovely Linda my dietitian I'm on a diet more appropriate to my needs.Sorry I'm rambling on but my point is that we are all individuals with different needs but the medical proffesion does'nt recognise this and treats us all the same regardless of genetic background.Problem is I can't see them changing.
Now to your other point Cats, my problem is that I get far too attached to them and I don't think at the moment I could take another one on.Sooty was a C.P.L cat that gave me 13 years of pleasure but for now its not for me.
Best wishes Graham
Ps My weird sense of humour is what gets me through all that life can throw at me and laughter is the best medicine in the world
