It's Wednesday I'm not looking forward to a struggle to get to Queen’s Medical Centre for nerve conduction tests (but for MG not for PN) it's where they stick needles in right next to your eyes to measure the electrical activity in the nerves I hate that.

Now for something completely different not directly diabetes related but I was told the other day that a consultant at a nearby hospital is recommending low carb diets to patients with Arthritis in order for them to lose weight and take some of the load off their knees and ankle joints.

Amazing now all we need is the diabetes specialists to cotton on and do the same but for BS control and weight loss.

My Grandson Keiran went to the Lincoln Christmas market/fair yesterday ended up winning a giant unicorn stuffed toy and had to walk back to his student accommodation carrying it says he got a few peculiar looks from people on the way. LoL

I bought a teddy bear for Toys for Tots a couple of weeks ago and walked through my apartment building carrying it and hoping I wouldn't get any weird looks! This is a "seniors" (over 62) apartment building and of course we get younger visitors and I didn't want anyone to think of me as a dotty lady. (Even though I have my own teddy bear who is older than I am and has been with me since I was 2. I don't take him around with me though!) Being female, a walk across campus in my student days carrying a unicorn or a teddy bear would have been a breeze. Maybe with your grandson some witnesses were thinking he was on his way to some loved and lucky girlfriend. :)

@SaskiaKC Thanks have to wait till February for result when next see neuro, but think I know what it will be, same as 17 years ago inconclusive and will probably end up with as before a clinical diagnosis.

I've had a good day today! Went to see nurse for annual checks etc. HbA1c is 34 and bloods all fine. We discussed how I keep my bg so low and she didn't tell me off for LCHF. My cholesterol is creeping up 6.5 - 6.9 - now 7.1 but she delved into the numbers and the HDL is increasing so my risk of heart attack/stroke is going down therefore she is happy! I can't believe the change in her attitude since I last saw her last December. Also she is thinking of setting up group consultation/support and would like me to be her star patient and attend to motivate and educate. What a turnaround. Is the message is finally getting through?

Great stuff @archersuz you must be delighted. Is this a nurse or your GP that is doing a U-Turn? Whichever, that is excellent news. She seems like a keeper.

Thanks @Bluetit1802 I've just edited my post to make it clear! My GP has supported my low carb and refusal of statins from the beginning, but the DSN wasn't so keen. Now she has changed her mind. I'm celebrating that more than my results.

Maybe the GP sent her on a training course!

Perhaps not that funny. My nurse, bless her, is lovely and knowledgeable. A couple of years ago she started to tell me about LDL particles, calling them big lorries and little lorries, and how the little lorries were the baddies but the big lorries were the goodies, and that LDL when not split into big and little is a waste of time. She had been on a course.

Run by the transport authority perchance. :).
