Diabetics R Us

Erm, whatever you choose to call me, please don't call me granddad, unless you want me to feel very ridiculous :stop::hilarious:. I think I'd even prefer princess over granddad...
I'm a bit scared. Hope I haven't given you bad ideas now...
Waiting in anticipation what you will adress me with when I least expect it :wideyed:

But is your son a granddad already or are you just teasing him?

Lad it is then.

No he is not a grandfather yet but he is as bald as a coot and he wears beige cardigans...

And completely off topic on this thread but didn't want to confuse things further on the Mod Elections thread. On that thread I stated I'm happy with any pronoun people choose. Which is true, mostly, except for you, Guzzler. I love it when you call me 'lad'!. Thanks!

I am so sorry if I embarrassed you on that thread. Forgive me?? Pretty please :)

You didn't embarrass me at all :). It's not like I go around shouting what sex (gender, should the forum computer change that to stars) I am, or am not, and I did participate in a couple of threads about diabetes and periods, which is an obvious clue, even when I'm pretty clueless myself.
So nothing to forgive here :)
I'm afraid the only one embarrassed was Michita.
And possibly yourself but I'm sure you'll get over it ;)

edit: Oh and I honestly think gender isn't very important on this forum, bar the occasional stuff about specific female or male problems.

My new phone arrived before lunch and after Pub Trivia I activated it. I was ready to throw it out the window before I was through, but it FINALLY seems to be set up, at least enough for me to use it as a phone. I haven't yet figured out how to lock the screen so won't be carrying it in my pocket until I do. It is almost too big for a pocket anyway.

It is a Rebel, and so far it is living up (or rather down) to its name! I preferred my Lucky.

Morning all

Hope you are all well today.

Alan & I went for an impromptu drink at the local wine bar after work yesterday, this was followed by an impromptu meal at the local Thai restaurant which was delicious. I fell asleep on the settee when we got in.

It's my last day working with my colleague Judy :(, she is off to work at the port in Dover.

Have a good day.

H :)

Good morning everyone. There's a touch of pink in the sky this morning, isn't nature beautiful?
Have a great day.

We've got blanket grey here atm

It was gorgeous when I made that comment a couple of hours ago but it has definitely clouded over since then. The forecast says it is going to be a typical Bank Holiday Weekend weather. Humph!
I invariably lose days on a Bank Holiday, anyone else?

It's drizzling here.

Bank Holidays just pass us by like any other weekends. We rarely even notice when one is approaching. One of the perks of being retired. All we do is make sure we are at home, well away from the madness on the roads and tourist spots.

Now that I'm retired, legal holidays (US term for bank holidays) affect me only because I have to remember there is no mail delivery or pickup, and the building staff aren't here, so no maintenance crew.

ETA: What is the occasion for Monday's bank holiday? Does it commemorate anything?

I tend to forget about early closing times etc. Easter time used to be a problem before I gave up keeping religious traditions i.e when does one have the ordinary roast and the Easter roast? Could never afford both and it would have meant too long cleaning in the kitchen. A lot easier now to pick and choose. Not like my Mum (Roman Catholic) who even kept Whitsuntide and Good Friday and her favourite Saints days.

It is called the May Day Bank Holiday.

We have never, as a family, celebrated Easter. No get-togethers, no special food other than chocolate eggs. No Easter bonnets or other similar festivities. Just one of those things that has never happened in our family. This year I gave in to temptation and bought myself a tube of Cadburys mini-eggs. I have been very good and still have a few left.

Well, we went out to cast our votes in the local elections. Civic duty done. We called in at the polling station whilst taking the dogs for a walk (Ness and Colin - he is daughter's dog we are looking after while they sun themselves in Portugal). They weren't allowed to vote. Two lots of elections. The Borough Council and the Parish Council.

If the European elections go ahead we will be on holiday, so we have applied for postal votes. Never had to do that before. It says the ballot forms will be sent out up to 4 days before the election. Better be sooner than that or we will not be here and we will have to go down to the council offices and demand them!

Grandson is in Lincoln with 6 assignments to complete and several exams coming up so local elections not a priority with him at moment and as he hasn't aranged a proxy vote or postal vote his vote will remain unused this time round the rest of us are going to vote when Judith's finished work.

As for the bank holiday as Judith works Wednesday to Friday and I'm retired we have all Mondays off any way.

I like my guinea-pigs a lot but I hate having to have them 'euthanized' when they're old or sick. (Neighbour comes over with a big stick. It's just as quick as having the vet do it and it spares them a scary trip by car and it saves me a lot of money.)
Waiting for my neighbour now.

Decided to wait some more. It has trouble with his hind legs and is very old, and I actually expected it to die 6 months ago. But now it looked a lot more lively than yesterday and this morning and afternoon. So we'll see how it looks tomorrow.
