Diagnosed Today

Thanks guys - This is a sometimes issue with, it seems certain browsers. It is with HO for further investigation.

They are taking their time. It has been like this for a couple of years. Just saying. I don't think it is anything to do with browsers. It seems very random.

Welcome, you have come to a great place.

Yes it is scary and overwhelming. You can read everything, but keep in mind you may need to reread multiple times and that’s OK. It will take time to put it all together in a way that makes sense and actually works for YOU. I like to read everything. The knowledge helps, but it also give me a sense of security and the feeling that I am being pro-active. Even if I don’t always implement what I know as well as I’d like, I still like knowing. My sister.....she doesn’t want much information. Just some basics. To her it’s too overwhelming. We are all different.

Ask questions. None are too simple, stupid, whimsical or obvious. We have all been there and are still on this journey. We are all still asking questions.

Get a blood glucose monitor, the supplies to use it, and use it often. Check for cheap strips. See how you respond to Foods by checking before and about 2 hrs after a meal. Without a monitor it’s like trying to drive blind. You don't know where you are, where you’re going, or how you’re going to get there.

Once more, welcome! You can do this.

Hi and welcome. May I ask if you are overweight. Not being nosey, just that if so it is as important to good blood glucose management as diet. The great news is that cutting down on carbs makes the job of shedding excess kgs much less stressful. You're probably busy reading everything but one trap for new players is to assume that pills like Metformin reduce blood glucose regardless of diet. Don't fall for it. Metformin works by moderating the glucose release by your liver. It doesn't do much for what you decide to put in your belly. Have fun.

Not wishing to derail this thread, this issue has been going on for a very long time. Some of us see "insulin dependent" under the avatar and some of us don't and never have, including for those that actually are insulin dependent. I am one of the latter. My list of possible diabetes status in settings does not show insulin dependent T2 at all, so if ever I need insulin I will not be able to change my status.

Sorry to derail the thread.
