I'm sure there's more.
I haven't for forty years but is it safe with diabetes because someone just gave me a bottle and it tastes wonderful!

It's got quite a lot of carbs in it so it depends on your personal tolerances

20g in 5 fluid ounces might be too much for many of the T2s here, but everyone's metabolism is different. It's a similar carb content to (non-diet) coca cola (actually more according to my calculations but my math skills may be a bit suspect at the moment).

Thanks for your very quick reply!
I just found this... https://lowcarbcheck.com/foods/port-wine-20-abv/#vitamins... which seems to suggest it scores zero on the Glycemic Index which surprises me.

Just found out half a bottle in it is indeed as full of sugar as the flavour would suggest!

I remember port...

I suspect that unless you are drinking very small quantities that most type 2s couldn't tolerate it.

The best way is to test and to see what your body says.

Good luck.

Information wise it's a minefield out there!

Any Port in a storm!
Hmmm....weather looking a bit suspect...

Could be life saving in case of a hypo!

But apart from the unlikely scenario where I should have a bottle of port at hand right when having a hypo, I'd stick to a small sip for taste, considering the amount of sugar it has.

I used to like drinking port but now stick to single malt whisky, or one of the good sipping rums from the Bundaberg Rum bond store.

I too am a whiskey man these days but don't stick to any particular one as there are far to many to explore and I don't stick to single malts either as there are some fantastic blended malts out there where you get to experience the master blenders art.
I think the most interesting blended malt for me at the moment is Johnny Walker green 15 year old. It's one of the most interesting blends I have ever drank... one of the most interesting whiskies full stop.

Interesting! ;)

I have seen it in the bottle shops but have always bypassed it.

I like the top shelve blended rums that are only avaiable from the bond store here where I live in Bundaberg.

One of my favourite port's was Hanwood Estate 10 Year Old Grand Tawny when I drank a glass or two.

Johnny Walker have always had a bad rep with me simply because of the red which is even worse than Bells and Jack Daniels!
The Green as far as I can tell is the only all malt whiskey that they do and it really is something special around forty quid a bottle.
There's a blue that is around a hundred and twenty quid but that's out of my price range but it's a blended whiskey not a blended malt and many say the green is better anyway.
I find the green very moreish and if I didn't discipline myself I could easily sip my way through a whole bottle.
Talking rum I used to sit with a gnarled old West Indian guy now and then in Moss Side Manchester sipping rum. He always had an assortment and we'd sit and sip a bottle away. That's fifty years ago and I haven't enjoyed rum since.
Cn you recommend one for me a dark one?
