I'm into my sixth week of the LCHF diet, and am looking for additional ways to lower my blood glucose.
Jason Fung, M.D. is a Canadian nephrologist in Ontario, Canada who specializes in weight loss and diabetes. Two years ago, he began posting lectures on YouTube. One of the approaches he uses with patients is fasting, something I'm interested in trying myself.
He will be one of the presenters at the 2nd annual Diabetes Summit, March 23-30. Each day, we'll have 24 hours to view that day's presentations, for free. Dr. Fung's presentation will be on fasting. Go here to learn more and to register for the Summit, again it's free... http://thediabetessummit.com/
I've watched two of Dr. Fung's videos on YouTube so far. I find his approach to treating type 2 diabetes in his patients interesting. Here's a list of his videos...

In his most recent video, he's presenting to healthcare professionals during Grand Rounds at his hospital...
I also like this video, in part because it's only 9 minutes long but also because he interviews one of his patients along with the patient's wife. They both used fasting to lose weight. The husband's blood glucose, and I believe his lipid panel, improved...
Dr. Fung individualizes treatment for his patients. Fasting is done by drinking water, teas, and bone broth, with no artificial sweeteners. How long the person fasts, and at what intervals varies. In addition, patient's are seen weekly and their blood work is monitored weekly too. I'm not sure how many of his patients are following a LCHF diet. I have more questions than answers right now.
Dr. Fung is not alone in using fasting.
As I listened to a 2014 interview with health and fitness expert Mark Sisson, author of The Primal Blueprint, I learned that he uses Intermittent Fasting (IF). Mark suggests being on his diet for at least 3 weeks before beginning IF. Here's a link to an article on IF from his website, Mark's Daily Apple - (a link to an update for women is included at the end of the article)...

Two nights ago, I took the time to read all the forum posts here related to Jason Fung. Response was neutral or reserved, one or two negative. Not sure why. Perhaps it's because his approach is new to the diabetes community and not enough is known about it yet.
