Your suspicions are based on a Facebook chat group - not on medical research. If you wish to believe this then so be it, however your living a precarious life based on hearsay.

My suspicions is based on my life as well.

I have to admit when I was diagnosed with type 1 I looked at every avenue as an opportunity to understand my diagnosis, it was pure desperation for me, I didn't want my diagnosis and refused to accept it, I would of believed snake oil salesmen. However with more insight/understanding and knowledge I am now much more rational thinking. Laying the blame at the door of a harmless probiotic milk drink really is clutching at straws, pardon the pun, you haven't provided any research backed evidence to support your claims, if you Google any topic then you can reach any conclusion about anything, unless you can provide evidence to support your claims then there is no basis to believe what you are saying.

I get it that it is really difficult to understand, but my experience has been this. I didn't question my prediabetes as I understand I was overweight and binge eat a lot on junk food.
But sudden rise in HbA1c after consumption of milk kefir does warrant a proper investigation with c peptide this less.

Veryanxious,
You have just mentioned 3 potential factors for a change in your HbA1c; being overweight (likely insulin resistance), binging on junk food, and consuming milk kefir.

Of those three factors, two are known risk factors for the development of glucose dysregulation (for a number of reasons).
The third is just hearsay and speculation.

It would make FAR more sense for you to focus on the more likely factors (weight and bad diet), than to focus on kefir as a cause.

As for your speculation that you are developing T1, then without more tests, giving a clear indication, you are speculating on that too.

Hi there @Veryanxious. What is it you would like us to say? Are you hoping someone will say that is is the kefir that raised your HbA1c?

Although nobody has mentioned it so far, there is a very wise scientific saying "correlation does not imply causation".

Just because you think your problems started around the time you started taking kefir it doesn't automatically mean that the kefir was the cause of the problem.

It is not impossible, but it seems very unlikely.

I have had my c peptide test done as I was observing high blood sugar trend since last one year. I was a healthy individual with A1c of 5.3%, but then I suddenly got an A1c of 6.1%. I completely attribute it to the kefir the I had just 3 months back from the test. I am worried that bacteria or virus from the kefir has shot my pancreas.
I just had my c peptide test results which came back low 0.73. Range starts from 0.83. I am really worried. I feel like one wrong decision has cost me everything.

Hi @Veryanxious. Type 1 is an auto immune condition and it usually starts quickly with many symptoms. I was hospitalized 30 years ago with a BS of over 30.
Try to think clearly and take deep breaths, through your nose and then out through your mouth. If you are pre- diabetic then there can be a rise in your BS over time, but, this does not mean you will develop type 1.
This may be of help ;
Reducing Anxiety Symptoms Right Now
  1. Take a deep breath. ...
  2. Accept that you're anxious. ...
  3. Realize that your brain is playing tricks on you. ...
  4. Question your thoughts. ...
  5. Use a calming visualization. ...
  6. Be an observer — without judgment. ...
  7. Use positive self-talk. ...
  8. Focus on right now.
Good luck.

I have rectified these two in last one year. Lost 18kgs and brought my A1c to 4.7% but my fasting was high 91 and low c peptide.
If that was the case my fasting should have been lower too. That's why I am thinking that i moving towards type 1.

There is nothing wrong with a fasting glucose of 91. (5.1mmol/l) and you have a perfect HbA1c. I know very little about c-peptide except that it mimics insulin. Did you have a fasting insulin test at the same time?

91 or 5.1 is not a high fasting level and you have a great hba1c of 4.7.... I think this has been mentioned several times and you keep insisting your FBG is high when it is clearly not.

No I just had c peptide, but as per doctor I consulted they are not very reliable. I would have gone for GAD but they are super costly and they do it on only fridays, I went on Saturday.

I would have accepted 91 as great if I had some high carb food in night before. My dinner was a green veggie and 6 egg whites. And 16 hours later my glucose was 91 and low c peptide. You don't think this is not good?
I mean if glucose was 91, I would want more insulin to be produced.
Because I have read in website that ideal fasting blood glucose should be less then 90mg/dl.

Hi. Nobody here can offer a diagnosis or any medical advice. You are clearly very concerned about numbers that look perfect to most of us. Most of us would be thrilled with those numbers.

As you seem very concerned with numbers that everyone in the forum would find to be perfect, Please discuss your results with a doctor and if you don’t trust the doctor I think you should find a doctor that you would trust, rather than expecting strangers in a web forum to offer any concrete diagnosis. Good luck.

I am not expecting any diagnosis from strangers. Just want to hear what they think of the my c peptide numbers. I was worried about the lows as a pre diabetic that was the worst I was expecting. I came across a big shock to me. I am sorry if it offends anyone. I won't be posting anymore.

If my comment offended, I assure you it was unintentional. I am just trying to state a fact - those numbers are fine in almost everyone’s opinion (and kefir almost definitely has nothing to do with anything). Discussing here is unlikely to address your anxiety and hence my suggestion to discuss with a doctor.

I had a discussion with a doctor and I am not offended by your comment. I do agree my anxiety is showing up.
