had all this done 2 years ago after been omitted with dka, soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fed up so though i d share my feelings on here due to feeling like no1 listens

I can't believe you're still waiting for insulin @wiserkurtious Thats shocking : (

My advice is to phone them, tell them you've already had the tests done, and ask that they prescribe the insulin you need. Be polite but very firm. I can't get my head round why it's taking so long.

So sorry to hear that, it's shocking, your life could be at risk. You could ring 111 or just go to a&e as an emergency. Shake them up, you can't keep being pushed aside and ignored, please take care.

Do you have a DSN you can contact?

I spoke to his receptionist this aftenoon and explained my situation but like most things i ve been told to wait for an appointment to see him

he knows this he has my records, thought to myself maybe bringing dka on will push things alot quicker thats we're i m at with my mindset atm.that blood glucose tolerant was a waste of my time i m digusted by the test tbh

It seems like you Brits have to wait a really long time for medical care sometimes. You can't mean that you were diagnosed 2 years ago and haven't been on insulin yet can you? I agree with @Robinredbreast I'd go to an emergency room and tell 'em I'm not well.

If I were you, I'd lose the Mr Nice Guy approach and start demanding. You need insulin. It's a simple request!

Why do they have to make things so bloody hard?!
:) i m off to doctors tomorrow to have a rant,he wasn t too happy the last time i seen him and explained my situation

yes 2 years ago i was diagnosed type 1 than shortly after I went into the so called hooneymoon period and the past 3 months or so my sugars have been really high

My GP didn't prescribe me any insulin over xmas. I sat down in the GP surgery and refused to move until it was sorted.

All the receptionists disappear when I walk in now. They know I mean business! :D

I went to my gp regarding insulin he said he cant prescribe it without my consultants consent

That's rubbish. Any GP or prescribing nurse can do it. Mine was prescribed by a prescribing nurse. Sounds like you need a new surgery or should complain to the Practice Manager. BTW if you have a consultant why can't you go back to him. I would try to contact the Diabetes Clinic and explain the problem.

Yeah you're getting the NHS Song and Dance Routine sounds like to me. Which is no laughing matter if you're possibly headed towards DKA. I mean even the honeymoon people should be in SOME insulin if they in fact were in DKA at one time. Right? I know I was.

hes busy all of the time, you only get through to his receptionist I've tried and tried honestly,i m making an appointment tomorrow to speak to my gp

The best people to see regarding insulin not controlling bg levels is a diabetes consultant or dsn at a diabetes clinic. There are dsns on duty at most clinics who will see a diabetic and get the right help

If I were you i'd look at finding another GP and surgery as soon as you can. I'm not up on type 1 but surely there are guidelines they should follow to make sure you get insulin as soon as you need it? and it sounds to me like you should have been seen and put on it weeks ago.

No, we don't have to wait usually - hence the responses to the OP.
