Feeling Angry and Frustrated

You sound much more positive. I am pleased that you are taking up Jamrox's challenge. Also that you seem to have a doctor who is supportive. Maybe she can get you some sport on prescription?

I am Pipp. I have started Jamro'xs challenge one week earlier as on Monday I took my dog out for a walk on a hill for an hour, yesterday I went for a walk for 45 minutes and today I spent 1 1/2 hours mowing my parents front and back garden.

My doctor has already referred me to the Lifestyle Programme in Stoke-on-Trent.

The Lifestyle Programme is a GP referral scheme run in partnership with NHS Stoke-on-Trent and VAST. The programme is aimed at people with an unhealthy lifestyle or who have suffered with cardiac problems (i.e. a heart attack). The Lifestyle Programme offers opportunities to learn more about healthy eating and physical activity as well as helping to boost self confidence and address personal barriers to change.

The programme is designed to offer one to one support through a personal Lifestyle Coach. Your coach will guide you to a range of suitable local activities free of charge and help you achieve your goals. As a partner in the programme, Stoke-on-Trent City Council offers the use of a number of its facilities for the FREE 20 week physical activity side of the programme as well as an Energise+ card for use once the initial 20 week programme has finished
.
Other elements of the Lifestyle Programme include weight management sessions, smoking cessation and Cook and Eat sessions.

Hopefully the start of better times for you. The folk on this forum are so supportive, so keep checking in and reporting good and bad times. It has really helped me. I wish I had found this support ages ago.

Have you considered, or been advised, about weight loss surgery? My nephrologist recommended this to me and I had a gastric sleeve back in April. Normally you need to have a high BMI but if you have other co-morbidities then you may be able to get the surgery on the NHS. I have already lost over 11 kg in a month and have set my target weight at 80kg which I should be able to achieve by Aug/Sept this year.

Your parents are right to be concerned about your weight with a BMI of 50. You don't need telling that you are putting yourself at increased risk of heart attack/stroke etc.

You need to reduce the sugar!

STOP having sugar in your coffee/tea etc.

Start reducing the carbs if you haven't done so already

You need to take control NOW before you start running into serious complications

And yes...I am a parent...

I haven't yet from my doctor. I take blood pressure lowering medication and have recurring nosebleeds.

I only have sugar in tea or coffee when my blood sugars are low. I cannot reduce carbs as all that my family eats is carbs and protein. Yesterday I had to go shopping for my parents and they left me a list which was 90% carbs. This morning I got asked if I wanted sugar with my coffee and got stopped from making eggs and bacon for breakfast.

Perhaps take parents to doctor with you so doc can explain to you all what you need?

Print it off and give to your parents and tell them you will be dead before them unless they allow you to eat the foods that diabetics are recommneded.

Print off and pin up in the toilet, in the kitchen etc... Tell your parents direct they are killing you.

Ask for your own space in a cupboard or fridge etc for food.. And to be allowed to grow up and not to be copies of them....

I'm sorry but you are old enough to make your own food choices in life. And how can you be stopped from making eggs and bacon !?!? It's your body and your destiny. Clearly your parents need educating about food choices!
 
You do not have to be in the siruation where your parents control everything...

Agree totally with previous poster, and in my previous post gave u options that would break this control.

Its up to you, we all want to see you fit and well. And believe me 30+ years-no complications.. I know.

I also know how hard it is for people to break 'moulds' that parents put on their children....

Its your choice, but we all would support you during this time of change as although we don't actually know you as "real" friends... We care and have good and bad experiences...

I've asked them if they could clear a space out for me in the kitchen, but can't as all of the cupboards are full and also said that if I wanted my own space then I should contribute to rent which I can't as no employer's will hire me.

I got stopped from making eggs and bacon as then I would have to make eggs and bacon for them as well in the morning and since they don't have breakfast I can't make it.

Taking my parents to see the doctor with me has not worked at all today nor has explaining to them the LCHF diet and I've even told my doctor about the LCHF and totally dismissed it, saying that a low fat diet is more suitable and then I can start on orlistat in 2 weeks. I even showed the doctor and my parents this forum and they said that I am being given misleading information and that I shouldn't come on here ever again.

I felt betrayed by the doctor and so I've left my parents. I am currently living with a friend of mine temporarily as my parents are not willing to change their habits. I feel like that there is no other way of getting my parents to change unless I starve myself to death and end up in the hospital again.

I don't like to hear of familys splitting apart, HOWEVER you have now taken a step away from your Parents control.

Won't it be so fantastic in a few months to see them and you are slimmer, healthier and happier?

Now... Staying with a friend is good. Make sure your friend fully understands why you need to follow a new lifestyle...
Be kind to friend, keep the kitchen clean and clear up after yourself.. Especially the cooker top if frying bacon n egg-lol!!!

Take each day as it comes now, make sure that if you claim any benefits that they know change of living etc.

You can do this. As a diabetic there is absolutely no reason why you can't change and get better heslth and lifestyle.. And a job. Try to get a voluntary job just for a couple hours to give you a bit of better confidence in urself.

Really, seriously pleased for you...

You need to learn a lifestyle balance with food..... No good starving n ending up in hosp etc...

We can all help you through this if you will accept our support...

How are you going to afford to eat etc??

My friend knows about diabetes as most of his family have it and felt surprised that they do not follow a low carb diet. I already have a voluntary job at a charity. In my situation I cannot claim any benefits as I am still classed as being in full time education and so have no financial support. Also my friend has allowed me to stay their for up to 2 weeks as they are going on holiday for a month on June 2nd. His family is providing me with food as long as I do what they ask me to do.
