Just completed my first week on lchf and woo hoo lost 4 lbs! Long way to go but really pleased .really didnt expect having double cream was going to be ok lol after years of being told to eat low fat everything, obviously cutting out/down on the bread snd potatoes Is the key. My bg has been pretty steady too while ive been experimenting. So glad I joined this forum

I lost half a stone first week ... put five pounds back on.
Lost it put it back on.
Now after three weeks I can safely say I have lost half a stone.
So the lesson is don't get down if you see it go back up ... it's normal and we're all different too.

Havnt been able to lose as much as a lb for years so ill rejoice in the glow and take what happens next on the chin but I understand what youre saying jack the lad.

Your welcme!! I was weighed at the doctors a month ago and I go back on Wednesday so Im hoping To get weighed again.

Thanks Jan. How are you finding te Low carb diet? I think its wonderful to be able to eat cheese!! Ive found it good being able to eat salads as I havent realy got my head around cooked meals yet. lol. Eating a snack out can be interesting. lol

I've lost half a stone in two months. Seeing I've been trying for years to lose weight, this is on top of the stone I've lost since April,. All because of a low carb diet! And smaller plates!

Still trying to get my head around the fact its ok to eat cheese, cream etc dont really miss pots and not a big pasta eater anyway, had a couple of slices of bread this week but thats a lot less than usual.my weakness was crisps for a munch at night but switched to nuts and so far so good.tbh wish id discovered it years ago but then without the type 2 probably wouldnt have had the incentive.also finding much less of an appetite whichhelps lol from what Iive read on here that could be the metformin

That's great, well done :)

Really? Im on metformin too. I hadnt thought of that reducing appetite. I must admit I am eating watermelon to munch on. I used to love bread too but havent had any. Im very much all or nothing so darent risk even a slice as that would be the beginning of a downward spiral.

They do talk about higher doses than im on but ive definitely noticed a difference and my munchy periods are less and less. Too many spitty out bits in watermelon for me lol.

Was just reading about bullet proof coffee on here, gonna give that a go over the weekend if I can get coconut oil,;)

Lol lol Im not sure about that. Coffee with butter and coconut oil. Im just not sure yet. Please let me know how you get on and what you think. :depressed::);)

Im also a bit anxious about hot mesls, nevet been an enthusisdtic veggie eater and without pots on the plate as well its gonna look mighty bare

Yes. No rice, no potatoes, no pasta. I can only think of topping up on the allowed vegetables and mushrooms. Im already looking like a mushroom lol

Hmm I agree doesnt sound a nice mix but Im willing to give it a go, ill update this post and let you know. Have you been diagnosed long? Im into my 3rd week, I think its been a major wake up call

Ill end up with s plate of carrots and mushrooms lol mabe stews would be the way to go and home made soups

No Jan it has been about the same as you. I was put on metformin 2 weeks ago and I am seeing Diabetic nurse again on Wednesday. The Doctor wanted my blood tests repeayed as he wasnt hapy, not just with the glucose ones. Yes like you it has been a wake up call.
