Is it bad if i primed my insulin without attaching a needle?
I was tired and my mind just went blank lol.

Also, when im injecting into my arms i always shake my arm too much and i make myself bleed, any tips on how to stabilise my hands?

Final question, does anybody have a list of some supplies that will be helpful for managing my diabetes? e.e hygiene products you recommend e.t.c.

Thanks :)

Hi again, again.

No it’s not bad you forgot the needle. We all screw up.
When you did screw the needle on. Did it squirt? Did you also perform a second needle prime? Or “air shot.”

I inject into my stomach or legs.
I normally hold the needle under the skin for a short while (few seconds) to avoid any bleed or back gush of insulin?
It’s quite normal to be a little tentative with injecting (& possibly a little shaky?) it will become more routine & you’ll handle it like a pro..

Hygiene products.
I just use what I use bathing.
But if you mean hand washing for blood testing? Soap & water can suffice..

Seems like you did the right thing with the needle. :)

For the Libre. I fit after a shower.

Exfoliate the area during a wash. Then dry.
I do use an alcohol wipe on the area the new sensor is to go?
Then wait till dry.. sometimes I force dry using my wife’s hair dryer..

Years ago, Abbott used to put an alcohol wipe in the box with the sensor.
But they stopped that for some reason. I forget why..
So I get my own off Amazon. “Optipro.” Box of a 100.
I only use one every 2 weeks…

try a nice bath to losen the adhesive soup and water should be fine, otherwise Baby oil
coconut butter or other moisturiser (smells awesome) diabetic nurses recremmend that i use that on my tummy couple of days.
you can get preinjection swabs if really want to. I use prior to CGM area then ensure its fully dry.

i haven't bothered with alcohol swabs for insulin injections (perhaps i should) was advised to, however NOT once did the hospital staff use before i started to give myself the jags :O

they did use water before finger pricking me and dried off, 1st droplet was wiped away with little squeeze for a second droplet (apparently incase diluted or indeed if something sugary (eg icing sugar on jelly babies) could effect the sample

I don’t use alcohol swabs for injecting, either…

I’ve worked for a number of years using “3M tape” in automotive use? (Interior fittings.)
So it makes sense to degrease surfaces with alcohol wipes to aid longevity with adhesion of a sensor..

ps have done that several times usually first thing in the morning, i've also by accident wasted a fair bit of insulin a couple of times... dialing up toujeo to dose then squirting without realising very easy to make wee mistakes imo wouldnt worry too much :> I now have a wee routine always doing in same order and use the libreview app after each injection listing the amounts etc only directly after i've done which helps a little :)
