So it has occured me I could be doing something REALLY wrong!! I have only realised that apples are not the greatest and I love apples...but anyway...I've been drinking fruit teas as opposed to anything other than water cause my normal brew is just too much for me to bear without sugar....the teas say no carbs and no sugars...am I right in thinking there are none hidden? Anyone know?

If it says no carbs then it should be no carbs. Most fruit teas are low carb unless they have added sugar. Best to check the label to be sure.

Today I just discovered a Cherry and banana tea! .... The packet is German and I have also been given a pack of Lemon Cheescake flavour tea ....

I may become a connoisseur

I have changed to fruit tea also, for the same reasons as you. Worked for me. The Rhubarb one is my favourite

YAY! I have about 6 packets of different ones at the moment...they all defo say no carbs and no sugars and there is nothing added in the ingredients...was a bit concerned that one of them had "apple pieces" but figured it would be so small that it really wouuldn't matter...I'm kinda fighting in the dark at the moment as waiting or my monitor to descend on my doorstep! Thank you peeps...BTW do you buy the PG type(other brands available) because I had one of these and it was rank!!! Oooo lemon cheesecake....I need this in my life @magsiesss tell me more!

I have used Green Tea, Nettle, Camomile, Mint, Lemon, Lemon & Ginger, tried the lot for over 25 years, pre diagnosis and now. The only one I dislike is Liquorice, none affect my readings, and as I understand it Green tea has a positive lowering effect for some.

If it says zero, it should be zero, but if I'm going to be a pedant, then I'd say that this is when testing is your friend. I'd wait until well away from any food interference, so not shortly after a meal, and do a test before, then after the tea.

For some people, coffee, even black, can have an impact on their bloods. How bonkers is that? But, that's just diabetes for you. You'd be very unlucky if that were to happen, and to be honest, I'd reserve that sort of testing for a time when you're fine tuning things. At this stage, concentrate on the biggies - sugar, and the really obvious carbs.

yup, I would use a meter to double check, if in doubt.

Having said that, how much does a tea bag weigh? 3g??? (thats a guess)
So even at its worst, I can't see a teabag generating more than 1g of ingest-able carbs, so matter what % of carbs it holds...

Once my meter arrives I will do guys...though as you rightly say...considering the weight then it would be very sad if they affected anything...if they do I can see me giving up and saying just give me the drugs and drink what the hell II want..so here's hoping! x

YOooo lemon cheesecake....I need this in my life @magsiesss tell me more!

I had a cuppa this morning and wow - it really does smell of cheesecake ... ie very yummy. I am not sure about the taste though ... so perhaps if you have friends going abroad, ask them to look for unusual teas ...

I moved to decaf coffee and tea mainly last year due to advice from the hospital Respiratory Unit as I have OSA. I also started trying out all the flavoured teas, lemon, peppermint, camomile (&honey) and liquorice to mention a few. They are all very lovely and all packs state zero carbs. They are a winner in my book. :) I do have the odd cup of full caffeine in the morning from the Tassimo to get my butt going lol. ;)

Ha ha I have to say I have been doing alright with no caffeine though that might have also been contributing to the headaches....to be fair I was on decaff teas mostly anyway...I do miss coke though!!! x

That's Class A - very naughty...shocker lmao :hilarious:

The old quick one liners are the best lol. :p
Ha ha true story that...currently "tucking" into a winter spiced one...the thing that does annoy me about them is..you know when you (used) to make a squash it would taste like what you put in it? Why do fruit teas always taste less of how they stink? Still it's better than hot water! lol xx
