Talk of the Devil!!!!! He's here now.:)

What a lovely message!
I've been browsing the forums this afternoon and seem to have been reading a lot of very stroppy messages with members sniping at one another, so this was an absolute breath of fresh air! It also serves as an excellent reminder that none of us is an island, and things we say and decisions we make for ourselves can often have a significant impact on others.
Well done, Steve - you're right, we ARE all here for each other. Diabetes is the enemy, other members are the support network!
Big hugs x
@debrasue Hi there, thank you for your comments. May we all respect one another & continue to be helpful & thanks for the hug n kiss too, that was really nice of you! I truly feel attached to this forum, although I'm not on it as much as some of you but I do tend to work long hours, however it's good to drop in from time to time. I wish good health to you & your family. Steve :) x

Was down in York a fortnight ago stayed a few days

Had a bar meal in a pub called The Old White Swan

I met some inlaws for a meal in local Indian restaurant. I had an onion bhaji for starters, then a mutton biriani with a little spinach curry. I thought the biriani would send my bg skywards, but when I tested after 2 hours it was 5.4.:)

After 3 months on very low carb (less than 20g per day), I find I can now include a few more carbs in my diet. I've tested and can now cope with any of the following without a rise in BGs of more than 2mmol/l two hours post-prandial: 100g new potatoes, 120g brown or wild rice; 1 small banana; half an apple; 1 slice of wholemeal bread, 1 soft white bap. I haven't tried any cereals yet, or pasta, and white rice still results in a spike.
I don't eat these things every day, and don't risk any of them if my pre-prandial reading is higher than 5.7mmol/l, but it's good to know that I can include them from time to time.
Sugar in any form still spikes me, however, and I have to be very cautious with fruit. So far I have found that a few strawberries, redcurrants, raspberries, or cherries are OK, and so is a small nectarine or a small plum. Grapes or sultanas send my BGs sky-high, though.

That's because you have detoxed your liver of carbs. Accumulative carbs cause high bgs.
Low carb detoxes a diabetic's liver. Nothing related to alcohol just carbs.
Carbs are our alcohol. Very addictive and can permanently damage the liver.
I've always said the liver is a type 2s flaw not the pancreas!
Type 1 pancreas but type 2 is all about the non alcoholic liver output.

Had a fantastic day in York. The good company made the day that much more fun.
The kids had the miniature train, play area and picnic treats. Oh and the double chocolate farmhouse ice cream for the 9yr old. A lovely lick for me. Yummy!
I cannot wait to do it again.
Me and William are the new travelling type 2 reunion gang. I can see this excolating.
This time next year. We could be visiting YOUR area. Ha ha
God I'd love that. It's the wanderlust in me. Now we both just need a sponsor to pay for our train tickets and expenses!
We'll come to you instead of an old fashioned scouts hut/pub meet up.
Please PM me your interesting tourist attraction in your home town and I'll be there. To meet and greet! Ha ha
God I'd love it. William loves company too. A great companion! :) :) :)
Thank you @Liam1955 for a funny and happy memorable day . ;)

Good afternoon to you William. Have a lovely time at Pizza Express, if you don't eat pizza [all these carbs!] they also do a variety of salads and pasta dishes. The lunchtime buffet is very good. Enjoy!
We are doing Hartlepool on friday. Pizzahut lunch. I'm wary of going as little boy died in there last year. Very very scary how easily things can go wrong. A healthy grape cost him his life. God rest his sole. I'm not sure about having lunch there out of respect. Humf! I'll have to think about it. :(

Good Afternoon from a dull, just stopped raining York. @ickihun I wonder why I have a sore throat? But, what fun and an absolute joy to meet up with Vicky, Hubby and Children - I cannot remember having talked (and laughed) that much in a very long time, as I (We) did yesterday on their day trip to York Railway Museum. I have not decided about Saltburn-by-the-Sea yet!!! Have got to find out more information from R's Daughter about facilities, before I decide about a week in a Caravan. Will get back to you on this. :) W x

I'm so glad you and @Liam1955 had a good time - I was pretty sure you would! You'd both be very welcome to come down to South Gloucestershire, although I can't think of any specific tourist attractions to recommend. You'd just have to make do with me! :joyful:
