GOOD AFTERNOON/EVENING.

@Squeekyboy - Hi Steve, have returned to the Forum. As regards to tins of Beans always look on the labels, there you will see listed the amount of sugar. Here is the link for SD Codefree Blood Glucose Meter:
http://homehealth-uk.com/all-products/codefree-blood-glucose-Monitoring
The Test Strips are the cheapest to buy. And you need to order it in mmol for the UK. Plus state you have Diabetes for vat exemption.

Afternoon

Well it's dull here in the Midlands. I didnt bother putting the washing out as it doesnt look too promising.

I have a couple of errands to run today - Dr's appointment and some food shopping. I also have my diet class to attend so shall see what entails there.

Tomorrow I am babysitting my 7 year old granddaughter. We're off into town to cause mayhem and mischief . ANd of course nanna gets to fill her full of enumbered sweeties and send her back to mummy mwhahahaha.

Have a good day all

Hope icki, Liam and debs are now fighting fit

Approaching 10pm and ready for bed

Night

Just an update. Got letter from the Hospital this morning regarding my recent MRI Liver Scan. The results are 'inconclusive' and my Liver Function Blood Tests are still 'abnormal' - so, the Liver Specialist is arranging for me to undergo a Liver Biopsy Procedure.
Saw the Rheumatologist this afternoon at the Hospital and she was disappointed that the Prednisolone (Steriod) Tablets had not worked and also the Steriod Injection I had 2 months ago. So, I can go back onto using the Tramadol 50mg, they should have a better effect because of having a rest from them for over 10 weeks now. An appointment is being arranged for me to have Scans on my Hands, Knees and Feet. :)

I'm sorry to hear you have to go for even more tests, William. You must be getting heartily fed up with hospital visits by now. But at least you are getting well assessed, so let's hope they can find out what the problem is and get it treated as soon as possible. Big hugs in the meantime x

@Liam1955 If you could see the great big smile on my face, hearing the news that you have returned to the forum...I just shouted out with joy to my partner, Maria, William is back on the net! Thank you for reconsidering, we'd all miss you & your friendship, your help, advice & your humor. I actually felt really sad about you leaving but big smiles that you are back!
Thank you once again for the information, it is very much appreciated. Good to know you've come home, God bless you.
You know, just like others have said, we are all here for each other & this is true albeit, I'm sorry to hear you are having to have more tests but without these things, we can't go forward. If there is anything I can do for you, just ask me & I'll make the journey.
Kindest regards
Steve

@Squeekyboy - Hello Steve and Thanks, - Think I might have to leave more often! Just to get the 'friendly Welcome' back.:)
Did you go onto that link and order/look at Meters? If you haven't been provided with a Blood Glucose Meter by the Diabetic Nurse/GP then it's a personal choice wether you want to use a meter. But, I feel it is a vital and important piece of a Diabetics equipment. You can test to see how certain foods affect your blood sugar, also if you are ill you can test more as illness pushes up blood sugars, and if you are going Hypo (low blood sugars). The SD Codefree is a popular meter with members on the Forum, as the test strips are the cheapest - even cheaper if you order multiple packs. Some companies will send/offer you a meter free but then the test strips are expensive.
How are you doing with your Diabetes?
Thanks again.
William:)

@Liam1955 Hi again William, yes I took a look at the site & I'm going to get the meter & strips probably in bulk but haven't yet, as will need to find my card payment on net password, which I think is in the car, so once found I can order.
Diabetes wise, well until I get the meter & strips will not be able to check my BG but since I started on Low Carb & higher fats than I was having & have lost just over a Stone, which for me is pretty darn good. I will need to visit my Diabetes nurse to get my HBA1c figure once again, as I've forgotten it but nothing new about that these days. With being at work till late most days, I forget to book appointments. I've got my 1/2 yearly Asthma appointment to sort & of course my Diabetes/ eye care one to book. so will finish early one day next week and sort it. Cheers William. Steve. Squeekyboy

@Squeekyboy - Hi Steve :) - Sorry, this conversation could go on and on?
Firstly, Well Done on losing the weight that is always good for Diabetics.
I get my Asthma check done at the same time as having my Diabetes Check at the GP Surgery. I always book a 'double' appointment. (I also go to the Hospital and see a Diabetologist only because I use Insulin as well as Metformin)
I am not going to lecture you - but, it is priority to have up to date checks on your Diabetes to prevent complications arising. I will be having my 16th Retinal Eye Screening in the next month or two. And only once did I get a result stating there was some 'background retinopathy' - but that was enough to get myself sorted, lose some weight and change my eating habits, so my next Retinal Screening came back OK and has remained OK. And I have my eyes tested yearly at the Optician, we don't pay because we are Diabetic.
You could go onto: Amazon.co.uk they have some good offers on meters on their site. But, you need to make sure that the test strips are available for that meter and most importantly they are reasonably priced. (SD Codefree are the bes) Always state you are Diabetic - (exemption from paying Vat) and you need to get mmol for the UK.
Yes, It will be interesting to know what your HBA1C is now after losing weight and following the LCHF Diet.
Keep us informed will you?
William:)

What a lovely message!
I've been browsing the forums this afternoon and seem to have been reading a lot of very stroppy messages with members sniping at one another, so this was an absolute breath of fresh air! It also serves as an excellent reminder that none of us is an island, and things we say and decisions we make for ourselves can often have a significant impact on others.
Well done, Steve - you're right, we ARE all here for each other. Diabetes is the enemy, other members are the support network!
Big hugs x

What has happened to the format? Anybody? Help?
I am having to wear my glasses now to see what I am doing on my tablet.:(

The app has been a bit dodgy over the last few days
There was a notice saying that they were making changes to the forum on the site's home page when the forum was off line. I guess that these are the changes

I've been told I was right the first time!! If you turn your tablet sideways it's easier to read and they are working on the problems

Good Afternoon. Going out for lunch to Pizza Express, a place We very rarely go because I am not really into Pizza. And then to do the weekly grocery shopping. Went on a Wednesday the other week and I found the experience a lot more enjoyable as the Supermarket was almost empty and Cool. :)

Good afternoon to you William. Have a lovely time at Pizza Express, if you don't eat pizza [all these carbs!] they also do a variety of salads and pasta dishes. The lunchtime buffet is very good. Enjoy!
